Hey everyone, I’ve been a spy on here for a while and this is my first post. I’m a MAcc student having just completed my first quarter at DU here in Denver Colorado. I graduated with my Bachelors from CSU in May 2020 and started at DU in September of 2020. I got through my first quarter and scheduled my first exam for January 23rd. I’m taking FAR first and I started studying 10 days ago and completed all Chapter 1 and 2 and about done with 3.

The real hindrance to me is the sims. I am COMPLETELY lost when it comes to the sims and I typically just go to the videos and listen to how they do them rather than spend 30 minutes or so worrying about a problem I’m not confident in. Not only that but non-monetary transactions took me a bit to get used to as well. I score in the 60s typically for my first time through MCQs and don’t have a problem going through them again. Does anyone else have difficulty with the sims in these? If you did how did you get better at them? Repetition? Thanks for your help!!

Repetition, repetition, repetition. You'll get used to them the more you go through. Going straight to the explanation is okay if you know it'll be fruitless trying to do it yourself, as long as you try to start doing them soon. Going through it for yourself (even if you get it wrong) is a form of learning that just listening to the explanation usually can't provide you. The more sims you do and more often you do them, the less foreign they'll seem on the exam. Good luck!
