Taking FAR in a little over a week. I’ve gone through all the MCQ’s 1-2 times at least and doing a thorough review of all the chapters. Every time I hit a SIM question in the review I feel like I mess up each one! Anyone have any recommendations? I’m really nervous that I won’t do well on these. They seem to all be set up weird and I feel like I can never fully understand what it’s asking.

Also for those who have taken it how would you say the SIMS are on the test versus Becker?

    AUD - studying with Becker

    BEC - 59, 73

    FAR - studying with Becker

    REG - studying with Becker

    Practice, practice, and more practice!

When doing SIMs, be sure to read everything being presented. I would suggest printing out the answer to a SIM with the explanations, and just slowly work through it and piece it together. I also found it helpful to have scrap paper with me to write down information provided in that SIM. Be sure to read the answer explanations very carefully too, and write down anything to help you understand the SIM and the concept being tested. SIMs were never a strong point for me, but just keep working through them.

I can't speak on the comparison of SIMs on the exam to Becker, but from the review courses I have used, I feel it is a hit or miss. Sometimes the SIM would be something you have never seen before, or it could be the easiest thing in the world. I would highly suggest taking the FAR AICPA sample test, and doing those simulations. Those should give you a general idea of what to expect come exam day. I would also become very familiar with using the Authoritative Literature, as that can save you on exam day.

Best of luck! Please do share how your exam experience goes. You got this!

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 76
    REG - 79
What a journey! It took me 12 attempts, do not give up, keep going! Praise God!
