I am scheduled to take far 12/30. I am using Roger. I have been in this situation many times already, but I am feeling the pressure. I can never get through all the material, and now I’m down to 20 days. I am not doing good on the mcq’s. I’m doing the mcq’s section by section, and I’m writing ninja notes. I’m attempting the roger cram, but should I watch all the cram videos or start where I am in the materials? or just go for the mcq’s and ninja notes. I am feeling the pressure.

For Roger I saved 10-12 days before my exam to work through most of the MC. What I did for each section, was do half (or sometimes fewer) of the recommended # of MC right after each chapter's lectures. I would almost never meet the % targets this time around. However I didn't get hung up and kept going through the sections.

At the end of ALL the lectures (10 days before exam) is when I did all the MCQ I was missing for the targets. That way I would have them fresh in mind for the exam as opposed to finishing them 2 months ago and hoping I remembered them. And if I did the recommended amount but still had less than the target % correct, I would filter my MC to do the ones I previously got incorrect. That was what got me to meet the targets for each chapter.

Personally I only watched a few cram course videos. I used cram course only if I wanted a quick refresher on a subject from the full course (I think I watched the ones on derivatives and Investment Securities). I would find it would be very time consuming to try to watch all the cram course only 20 days out from the exam. If you need to still learn some material I would just watch cram videos for what you haven't covered & then do the MC.

Good luck! Have you sat for FAR before?

@Water, I agree with you. I stopped trying to watch all the crams. I have now honed in on Pension, government, cash flows, bonds and leases to name a few. I am studying 10hrs + making sure I am getting a good variety of material and doing enough mcq’s to feel comfortable. Overall,I look forward to bringing good report.

Hey, What about Roger flash cards. Too much?

I don't know how much free time you have but I definitely suggest watching the cram videos. I think Roger did a phenomenal job at condensing all the material into short lectures and you should use it. If I'm not mistaken the whole cram is like 14 hours more or less? You have about 2 weeks, so watch an hour a day along side with your regular studies, think of it as a break from doing mcqs. I love the cram and it's a great way to refresh some of the all topic you already forgot. In general I think Roger has the best course and offers the best value!

I have about 17 days before test day on the 30th. I feel like I’ve forgotten everything. I think I just want the info to roll off the top of my head. I’m trying to budget these last days and use them wisely. To be honest I don’t want to take the practice test. I’m willing to do a few sims for calculating purposes but get so discouraged on the mcq’s.
I used today to finish the ninja notes completely and started over. I’m taking a mini break for about an hour, then I’m at it again.

I appreciate your comments Professor, and am taking in the suggestions and fitting them where I can.
    Open for further suggestions.

I am also using UWorld Roger CPA to study. I think the digital flash cards help me, aside from the crams.

Here for moral support Tncincy! I used Roger for FAR as well and wished I would’ve switched sooner. I used his calendar to keep me on track, but should’ve built in more review days. I felt confident on the first half but rushed a bit through the second half. I like Water’s approach of doing some of the recommended problems then going over more and incorrect ones during the review phase. Don’t be afraid of those sims either. Good luck!

Ok. Twelve days til test day. What should I absolutely focus on. No doubt about it. I’m doing ninja notes, I'm doing mcq’s section by section. I’m going over flashcards. It just don’t feel like I’m doing enough.

Definitely save some days for SIMs. I'd recommend you do at least 1-2 SIMs on each chapter. Research ones also because I felt that FAR is the more difficult research section. I felt comfortable after doing 10-15 research SIMs, not spending more than 10-12 mins on each. If you can't find it by then just check the answer and trace it back through the FASB code.

Other than that, you may want to generate mixed MCQs in your review. What I mean is pull the MCQs from several different sections for one MC testlet. Then you will have to decide what it is they are asking and which topic it is from. Basically what will happen on the exam so it is good to practice mixed MCQ's.
