So I have about a month left till the FAR exam. Not sure if I should push back the test or not…

So far have studied and gotten through half of the book (on the Liabilities/Bonds chapter now). Work has been picking up so have not gotten as much studying done within the week as I’d have liked but I try to aim for 3 hours if possible. I’ll be taking a week off before the test in order to study.

Is it possible to pass if I have about half of the book left? So far have been doing ok on the chapters (this bonds one is torture though) Mainly focusing on the lectures/multiple choice. I’m slow on those but I try to actually listen and understand them rather than get through things as quickly as possible.

Depends on your timeline for the first half and how effectively you're retaining the info. If I were you, I'd take a practice test just on what you've covered so far to give yourself an idea. If it goes well, keep doing what you're doing. If it goes poorly, consider pushing the exam back and reviewing the old stuff before continuing on to the new stuff.

I always tried to build in at least 1-1.5 weeks solely to review before the exam, 2 if I was working and/or feeling more stressed. So if your studying is going well and you can keep that going, there's no reason not to go ahead with it.

At the end of the day, it comes down to how well you're retaining the info as you cover more and more material; it can be especially tough with REG & FAR. But you know yourself the best at the end of the day; you'll discover what works/doesn't work and what timeline is ideal for you if you haven't already. Good luck!

    BEC - 90 (7/19, 8 weeks)
    FAR - 78 (10/19, 10 weeks)
    AUD - 75 (12/19, 8 weeks)
    REG - 90 (7/20, ~12 weeks, split up)

Ethics - 97 (~6 hours to go through the material & take the quiz)
Licensed in Virginia (10/20, ~1.5 weeks to process after submitting everything)

It will depends on how much you've already know on the rest of the chapters. I spent maybe 3 weeks just to do test banks.

I'm not a lecture reading person (skip all those) and I would rather GOOGLE (the shortcut). Passing the test sometime have nothing to do with understanding the material.

I passed FAR but didn't learn how to do an actual inventory audit for 4 years (untill I actually got kick down to the warehouse and count thousands of samples.)

Thanks this is helpful – I basically just study the lectures/multiple choice and do about 3-4 hours a day (tough with work) and study on the weekends.

I think I'm worried that I haven't studied enough. I average maybe 60% on the multiple choice the first time through (after watching the videos so it helps a lot) but I don't have time to do the multiple choice a second time.

So by the time I take those 9 days off I'll have finished the book and going to re review everything for the 2nd time (and hopefully more). Planning on studying a chapter a day for 12 hours for the full 9 days before my test.

Good luck with the exam. I would recommend using a cram course or final review to help you get over the finish line. I used Roger CPA cram course and found it helpful!

If work is swallowing up your time and you're tired when you sit down and study, I would give yourself a breather. I'm finding that I'm not going as far as I wanted to with my studies of FAR, and decided to give myself some more time. I want to have the reading done and the lectures completed a month prior to the exam, as that will give me the most confidence. I know that time is money, but if I'm not prepared, I know that my score will reflect this. I'm going through UWorld Roger's MCQ's right now, but am only 25% through after one month.
