My recent FAR experience

I took FAR on November 30. My first MCQ testlet was fairly easy, 2nd MCQ was very wordy and rather difficult, same for the third MCQ, maybe slightly easier, but almost identical to the 2nd testlet. Now for the SIMs, I was able to answer both research questions with ease and feel fairly confident about my answers to the written (possibly didn’t write enough, but answered the question). The tabs were a nightmare. None of them were related and were all journal entries. I think I only got one partially correct. The others were a complete guess. Based on this situation, is it possible that I pulled a 75? Oddly, I took FAR a year ago and made a 73 (not answering any of the SIMs, but leaving only blind guesses and some tabs completely blank, bombed the written portion too). I have no idea what to expect this go around. Any similar experiences?

What you described is exactly the same, I mean almost 100% the same experience that I had. I am waiting on my results, but yeah, your description is spot on.

    Lets hope for the best.

    AUD - 89, BEC - 85, FAR - 81, REG - 91 - That's it for me, Thanks Jeff@another71 !

Hi guys, I sat for FAR on 11/30 also, and it's interesting that my exam experience was almost exactly the same. The first testlet was fairly easy. I was paranoid, so I read some of the questions two or three times to make sure there were no trick questions. The questions on the first testlet were one or two sentences at the most. I tried very hard to make sure that I finished the first testet in 30 minutes, but I ended up spending about 35 minutes. The second testlet was significantly more difficult. I completely guessed at 5 or 6 questions. The third testlet was also the same level of difficulty and I also guessed at 5 or 6 questions. I went into the sims with 80 minutes total, but I spent significant time, probably too much time, on the written memos. I found the answer to one research question, but couldn't find the other. The other tabs on the sims were very difficult. The tabs were all journal entries, and all were unrelated. I left 50% of the spaces blank and guessed at the remainder. Time ran out before I could finish the exam, so I was really really frustrated. As you said, let's hope for the best! It sure sucks to wait….it's ruining my holiday season!!!

I'm not sure this will help you feel any better, but I had the same problem you had on FAR and it sounds like our sims were the same. I have no idea how, but I passed so try not to be too down on yourself about it. Guessing on only 12 or 14 questions really isn't that bad and it's usually a good sign when the last two M/C testlets are harder than the first.

    Best wishes!

I also had the EXACT same experience. Literally, I think I described it to my friends in those exact words.

oh boy… hoping for the best…. with some Christmas luck, we'll all pass. 🙂

    AUD - 75; REG - 79; BEC - 72,75; FAR - 72,80 - DONE!!! THANK THE LORD!!!!

If I could give you some info to make you feel better, the fact that your second and third testlet were “harder” than the first is a good sign. It means you did well on the first and second testlets. Although this is just a matter of perspective. I convinced myself that while taking BEC my first testlet was easy, the second one was hard, and the third one was easy only to find out later that the BEC testlets (unlike the other 3) do not vary in difficulty at all.

Although sounds like on the first exam you did very well on your multiple choice the first time you took it if you bombed your sims and writing since that's 30% of your score and you got a 73

    AUD 81 - BEC 89 - FAR 82 - REG 86

OMG! I sat for FARE on 11/24 and I had the same experience. I used up all my time — never have done that on any exam. I came out of there in tears — it was terrible. This was my third time at FARE and I felt prepared — but not when I walked out! I called my Mom and told her I doubt I passed. Since then, I have calmed down and analyzed it. I feel good about the MC but terrible about the SIMS.

    here's hoping Santa brings me a 75!!!
