Hi guys, I have a question on NYS CPA license application. For Question 23 where it asks to fill out college/universities attended. Do I need to fill out all the colleges that I took college-credit classes from (including when I was a senior in high school)? or just schools that I received college degrees from?
I feel like asking every single school that I had taken classes for college credit is excessive because my undergrad school should have all those records already.October 1, 2019 at 11:30 am #2731197
If you meet the 150 without those classes then I see no reason to include them.
If those credits you earned in high school appear on your undergrad transcript then I see no additional reason to include them.
Worst case scenario here is that they need some additional information and it delays the processing of your application.
Depending on how desperate you are to have that certificate and license number, you may or may not want to cross your T's and dot your i's.
Or leave it in their hands and roll the dice. All your have to lose is time (and stress/worry).October 3, 2019 at 3:56 pm #2735859KevinParticipant
I was approved by the board on 10/1. Processing unit said I may make it into the licensing queue within the next couple of weeks and then to expect another 2-4 weeks for my license to be issued. It is mind boggling how the process can take this long after the board has already approved my application.October 3, 2019 at 3:59 pm #2735862
People fall into 2 categories… in a rush to get work done, or in a rush to go home.
Which category do you think state employees fall into? It's not like they are paid much as “civil servants”.October 4, 2019 at 12:40 pm #2737389KevinParticipant
I will be sure to post once I receive my license number to give everyone an idea of the current processing time. Anyone get licensed recently?October 11, 2019 at 12:44 pm #2747598
Hey friends, I called today and they are up to application date 9/12 as of noonOctober 11, 2019 at 1:19 pm #2747631
I'm showing they are up to 9/27/19 as of todayOctober 11, 2019 at 1:32 pm #2747640
I actually emailed asking about that, they replied “The date listed on our website isn’t for the CPA Board review, it’s the date we’re processing new mail.”October 11, 2019 at 2:08 pm #2747661
Ok, good call. Thanks for clarifying!October 16, 2019 at 3:25 pm #2754252ElleParticipant
What is the number you guys are using to call to find out this info? The number on their website says they no longer allow updates through the phone. Thanks!October 17, 2019 at 12:10 pm #2755164
Did everyone receive an email from the Board once they approved the application?October 18, 2019 at 1:47 pm #2756562
@Elle The number is 518-474-3817 x160
I just called and they are still on application date 9/12. No progress in a week I guess…October 30, 2019 at 2:58 pm #2771115DrewParticipant
Called today. Here is my timeline so far:
5/31/19: Form B and Application mailed
6/5/19: Check paid
(Emailed dept. and figured out my education was missing)
8/14/19: Education requirements received
9/17/19: Materials forwarded to the board
10/22/19: Approved by board and sent to processing unit. I was told it will take “several weeks” for my license to be issued.
Gotta love New YorkNovember 22, 2019 at 11:11 am #2806857
Where can you see where the latest licenses have been issued? I found a license lookup screen on the NYSED website, but I can't see the most current license #'s issued along with the issuance date?November 22, 2019 at 11:15 am #2806866
the only way to search for the newest license is to brute force search by license number and keep increasing until you either go past the latest license number, or you find the last one issued.
Good luck.November 25, 2019 at 2:49 pm #2811783
I just did this. As of right now the latest license # is 131949. Looks like they have been releasing quite a few lately. Like 50 since last week.November 25, 2019 at 2:55 pm #2811801
I would not expect much to get done in Albany this week, holiday and all…November 25, 2019 at 4:30 pm #2811972
131956… went up 8 since my last postNovember 25, 2019 at 4:59 pm #2812035
I found out I was put in the licensing queue on 11/22. They said my license number should appear on the website in about 4 weeks and then receive the paper license one week later. I'll keep everyone posted in case the timelines change.November 26, 2019 at 9:34 am #2812887
131962 as of 9:30am. Seems like they are moving along faster than normal.December 23, 2019 at 2:52 pm #2858223January 2, 2020 at 12:20 pm #2869545
Anyone still waiting impatiently for updates on NYS license? Submitted my application around September 20th. All documents were reviewed and submitted to the Board around October 22 and still have not received an e-mail or license number yet to date.January 2, 2020 at 3:02 pm #2869872
I'd probably give them a call just to check and make sure something didn't go wrong.
3+ months from mailing seems like an awfully long wait. The website says they are currently reviewing docs from mid December.January 2, 2020 at 4:14 pm #2870031CarbonatedParticipant
Here's my current time-line.
My application was moved to the board for review on October 4. Application was approved on December 17.
Currently waiting on license #. (Email said 4-6 weeks)
I did not receive an email when my application was approved. I used the ‘contact us' through the website to request for status updates, and they are pretty quick to respond via email.January 3, 2020 at 9:17 am #2871564January 3, 2020 at 9:30 am #2871579
Received an update that my application was approved the 31st of December. Just now waiting on license number!January 3, 2020 at 12:53 pm #2871909
Same here K. I submitted on 10/21 and was approved on 12/31. They said 4-6 weeks to provide license. I wonder if that means until I receive the certificate in the mail. That means that they are behind in updating the online system with license numbers as well. I have not shown up as of today and the last one I see issued is 132228.January 3, 2020 at 1:18 pm #2871939tigeracctParticipant
The license fee check cleared my account on 11/6. I asked for an update through email and was told that my application was forwarded to the review board on 11/26. I haven't heard anything since. I didn't think the review would take over a month.January 3, 2020 at 3:12 pm #2872140
Mine took 2 months and 10 days.January 3, 2020 at 3:39 pm #2872182
@charlesrskinner yes, they do seem to be very behind on processing. I'm glad to find out that the license has finally been approved by the Board though. Didn't expect it to take this long!
@tigeracct based on mine and Charlesrskinner's update, looks like yours could take at least another month before it is approved ):
