I’ve ventured into the Health issues section, but this particular thread is supposed to help AVOID said issues.

Let’s share what we are doing to try and maintain our health while studying. What are you guys doing for workouts? Workout DVDs? Buying home equipment? Gym lifting? Cardio only? Any particular workout programs you are using or are you freestyling it? What time of day do you workout?

Are you guys trying to keep your eating habits under control? What are some good healthy study snacks you like?

While it may be difficult for these exams to not affect your health at all, it is important to minimize negative affects. Let’s support each other and share our tips/techniques!

Well… I did yoga yesterday at lunch but it was disgusting outside.

I'm skipping my workout this morning and studying (or supposed to be…). I have Fridays off, so I'll workout tomorrow morning AND study all day. I'm already behind in my study schedule, so I need to get back on track. Or at least get to a point where I'm not in panic-mode. I hate FAR.

As per usual, my diet has been declining the closer and closer I get to test day. I'm thinking about going on a smoothie cleanse for a week because my tummy feels bloated and I need a good flushing out

I found an article with about 28 different smoothie recipes to try…I guess that should hold me over for a week.

Smoothies are my best friend. Especially since most solid foods make me fairly sick. You would be amazed at the smoothie recipes out there! I like to add spinach to my smoothies. Once you get past the color of it you can not tell there is spinach in it! 🙂 I also make smoothies with oatmeal. Those are super filling too! A really fantastic combination I enjoy is raspberry and peach. Kind of tastes like dessert!

I feel like this thread is holding me way more accountable for my workouts and CIA studying! I love it. 🙂

I've been meaning to make smoothies in the morning with some protein in them. I'll have to look up some good recipes!

Not to hack the thread but @dmurph I am doing it because I work in internal audit and my office “strongly encourages” it. They are also paying for it so why not!? It does not seem that difficult in comparison to the CPA.

    Good morning and Happy Thursday!

Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I'm having the worst time sleeping lately…. I fall asleep, no problem. But then I wake up, usually around 3 or 4, WIDE AWAKE and it takes me forever to fall back asleep. I usually can get myself to get up and workout, but I'm very groggy at first. My low point of the day is around 2-3 p.m.

    Frustrating….

    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

Hm. 5 years should still mean that your mattress is fine I suppose.

The reason why I asked was because I had the same sleeping habits as you while studying for REG. Went to sleep on time. Woke up at around 2:00am – 3:00am. Sometimes multiple times. Then had trouble falling back to sleep. Bought a new mattress. Slept through the night like a log. I could even go to sleep later and wake up earlier and feel MORE rested.

I would recommend working out, but you already do that!

Do you have a boyfriend/husband that snores?

    Do you take naps frequently?

    Are you skipping breakfast?

Are you drinking enough water to stay hydrated?

If it's none of the above, then I'm not sure what the source is!

@DeniseFutureCPA If you find yourself nodding at your desk, you should check if you have sleep apnea…snoring indicates lack of oxygen when you sleep and if serious enough can cause other health issues (eg., heart).

P.S. Not a doctor but my partner had this problem and once diagnosed amazing impact on all aspects of life, work, health condition.

To all those lifters, here is another option, exercising the brain and motivation therapy.

Check out lumosity – Daily exercises impact memory, attention, problem solving, speed and flexibility.

Went to the gym tonight! Unplanned but it was a good workout. Ran 1.25 miles, did 3 sets of lunges (3 regular and 3 side), did some ab work and a few tricep things (obviously my workout lingo is pretty bad.) I also did 2 planks and tried various workouts that I ended up not liking, haha.

Now, I made myself a strawberry & banana smoothie and I'm back to the books. My legs are going to be SO SORE tomorrow.

@dmurph51 – Nice job pulling the 4 plates on DL today. I'm hitting back tomorrow; I would love to do 5 plates but my back is sore as is and I'll be driving a lot this weekend, so I think that I'll lay off the heavy DL's. Nevertheless, impressive work. Being able to deadlift heavy weights sets people apart from those who bench 5x per week.

@neika822 – Make sure that you're adding a good amount of protein to that smoothie; post-workout drinks should have a high protein content. Optimum makes a great tasting strawberry-banana whey protein; you should buy a container and add it to your smoothies.
