I’ve ventured into the Health issues section, but this particular thread is supposed to help AVOID said issues.

Let’s share what we are doing to try and maintain our health while studying. What are you guys doing for workouts? Workout DVDs? Buying home equipment? Gym lifting? Cardio only? Any particular workout programs you are using or are you freestyling it? What time of day do you workout?

Are you guys trying to keep your eating habits under control? What are some good healthy study snacks you like?

While it may be difficult for these exams to not affect your health at all, it is important to minimize negative affects. Let’s support each other and share our tips/techniques!

Neika822 same here…my thighs are the MAIN thing I want to tone…but it's taking FOREVVVERR…I don't mind the size of them (shapely legs run in my family) I just want them to be more toned. I have been slacking on the running, but I've been doing so many step ups/lunges/deadlifts/squats. I feel as though they are BULKING instead of toning/slimming. 🙁

@CPA – exactly! If I wear longer shorts, I don't mind them. But in a bathing suit, I feel like my upper thighs are just humungous. And I have gross stretch marks :(. But no exercising will ever get rid of those… *sigh*

Study: Completely awful the past few days. I've hit a wall with FAR and feeling extremely burned out. I'm going on vacation next week and after a few days of soaking up the beach I will feel better and resume destroying the Wiley text. I'm forcing myself to put in a power weekend in before vacation and trying hard to keep a positive attitude.

Fit: I slipped at work Wednesday on wet floor wearing 3.5″ heels and did something nasty to my knee! It's on the mend but no cardio or stairs for me and I've had to modify the majority of my pushups to the wall method. Yes, I admit that I do modified girly pushups after doing normal ones to fail on my study workout blast circuit! I'm starting to notice however a significant increase in normal pushups to modified pushups, so yay! LBH modified pushups are better than no pushups at all, right? 😉 I'm going to keep at it and modify my routine with mat work and weights until me knee feels more like normal and less like there is broken glass inside it when I use the stairs! 😉

This thread is great, I am learning so much from all of you about working out and lifiting!!!! @InterFC and @Dmurph thanks for posting about bodybuilding.com and exrx.net!!! Lots of solid and user friendly info there and I found a great jump roping and weight training circuit on bb.com that I can easily modify for home workouts with weights. @Neika I'm right there with you on being out of the protein loop but thanks to @InterFC and @Dmurph I have enough info to start doing research on how to incorporate that into my workouts. @CPA4birthdaypresent you rock!!!!! 🙂

Keep up the good work everyone!!!!!!! 🙂

    STUDY:

woke up just couldnt focus. felt fuzzy all day long. i managed to get a 20 MCQ practice session in for all of the modules I had studied in the wiley books so far. still scoring pretty well in most. going to need to review audit evidence however.

    FIT:

day off, but i've got a great tasting recipe to share with ya'll. will post back in a bit with the link.

    IN OTHER NEWS:

I am officially an accepted candidate in RI as of today. got my NTS and was able to schedule my first ever sitting for Aug 1st. I'll be taking AUD.

Right after I scheduled that, I bit the bullet and paid the $235 in exam fees for BEC. when my NTS arrives for that, I plan on scheduling late August (30th).

that site is great btw. normally, i just keep my food simple (chicken, sausage, steak, pasta, etc…. not much prep work involved in any of these), but if im feeling creative, i may snag something off that site to make.

I love to read this thread and live vicariously through all your exercises and health routines. My health is in negative mode right now so I can't workout and even walking is painful. I have to go to the hospital once per week and get hooked up to an iv for iron infusions that last up to 3 hours each and leave me completely drained and fatigued. I have an operation scheduled for mid Oct that should fix the iron drain and put me back to normal. I am REALLY looking forward to getting back to regular workouts and feeling good. The nurses laugh at me when I show up with my big bag of study materials and noise cancelling headphones…hey, that's THREE hours of prime FAR study time as I see it!!

    FIT:

heavy push day in the gym. got the 75s up for 3 times, for all 5 sets, with no assistance on db shoulder press. goal is 5×5 before progressing to 80s. hoping to see improvement next week.

db bench press felt weak today. only got the 90s up for 4 on my first set. 3 reps for each of the remaining 4 sets afterwards. disappointed because i hit the 90s for 5 reps on my first set last week. there's a plethora of reasons as to why this could be, but i'll chalk it up to not adequately mentally warming up first (the first exercise of every is squats, which immediately precede db bench, which were omitted today).

trying to focus on rear-delts as well. normally, i can get a pretty good “feel” of the muscle working while doing face-pulls. today, this was not the case. oh well. there's always next time.

    STUDY:

half way done with the second to last module of the wiley auditing book. currently working thru the module on audit sampling. going well. i'll finish the module tomorrow. MCQ sesh when i get home tonight, and perhaps note card review.

    IN OTHER NEWS:

heading out with my parents to my pop's best friends house tonight for some drinks and food on the river. going to be seeing the CPA who i interned with at the river tn also- he's also a part of my pop's golf foursome. when all of these guys get together, it's a riot! i cant wait.

    Top of the morning folks!

FIT: Today is Day 1 of my smoothie cleanse. Today's smoothie is called “Strawberry Fields” here's the recipe.

    Strawberry Fields

Berries of shortcake fame are also great for a detox. “Strawberries are phytonutrient factories, supplying your body with a bounty of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant nutrients,” Carr says.

    Serves 2

3 cups cashew or nondairy milk of your choice (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)

    2 cups fresh strawberries

    1 tablespoon lemon zest

    1 small orange, peeled

    1 banana

1½ cups loosely packed spinach ( I used frozen spinach…and consistency wise, it needed the frozen spinach)

IN a high-speed blender, blend all ingredients until smooth.

STUDY: I need to finish the second half of my 90MCQs Progress test of all 10 FAR chapters. Then on to NIINJA Notes re-writing and completing a full progress test of 20 MCQs after re-writing one topic. 🙂

I hope I can get through this week of only smoothies ; / I'll keep you posted.

Study: FINALLY gave my self the kick in the butt I needed. I got a solid 3 hours in this morning. Really productive and I wrote out a study schedule. I can so do this on the first try.

Fit: Spent an hour at the dog park running around like a fool with my dogs, then took them for a mile walk and then came home and went for a 1.3 mile run and pushed my pace!
