*Disclaimer* This is sad.

I have an estranged relationship with my father, I have spoke to him once in the last six years. He was found dead today by my 16 year old brother. Our parents are divorced and I am next of kin. Besides my heart breaking for my brother (he lived with my father) I am completely and utterly numb. I have no idea how to feel. I am scheduled to take REG (the last part for me) on Wednesday. I have studied more than I can even put into words. Power weekends, power nights, MC until I want to puke. I felt ready today, I felt like I could take down that beast that is REG until I got the phone call.

I desperately want to be done with this beast. I have studied so hard on one hand and on the other my own father, who I admittedly havent spoke to, just died. I think my brother would want me to take it, I mean whats the worst that could happen…I fail again. My brother has been one of my biggest cheerleaders. I’m so lost, so confused…so numb. When I found out I immediately started rattling off estate tax information…maybe my way to cope.

Sorry if this is not the place for soemthing like this. Just thought someone might be able to give me some encouragement/motivation/kind words…something since we are all studying for this exam too.

LSNYC: I did not make it to Ann Taylor today but I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket…hopefully soon. I did however manage to buy the obligatory new pair of nine west heels ( I have bought a pair after every exam) so at least in all the caios there was something that felt “normal” today.

Now that it is over it is hitting me just how exhausted I am. I have been going non stop since I got the call Monday. Very little sleep. I think I did okay but have no idea. Nothing felt too beastly which is either good or bad. Who knows. I guess I will find out soon enough. I think I need a nap.

I wanted to thank everyone for their encouragement and support it means so much. No one else knows how much studying goes into these exams…I am glad I took it. Either way, pass or fail, I am glad I took it today.

Hey LSNYC – I am hanging in there. Went back to work yesterday. By far the worst week of my life. On top of my father's death we had really strong winds that blew shingles off my roof and downspouts off my house and then yesterday my car wouldn't start. Neither of which were too terrible to deal with but on top of everything it sucked! Needless to say I am ready for some good.

I am starting to get nervous about my score on the exam just because I have absolutely no idea how I did but I am hoping for the best.

On the bright side I have finally got a good night sleep!

Thanks for checking – is it weird that I miss studying? It was the most normal part of my life until last week and now I have nothing to study. I have no idea what to do with myself. I am going to get fabric and start a quilt soon. 🙂

Congrats, smp!! A little late to the topic, but I lost my mom in a car accident a month before I took my first CPA exam (10 years ago, when it was still paper based and you had to take all 4 sections at the same time.) I was numb. I actually stil am. I figured I spent the $$ on the exam, so I'll stop studying, and mourn and just sit and see how I did. I think I was in the 40's on all 4 sections. I didn't really care. But it gave me a baseline to know what to expect for future exams. (BTW, I haven't been attempting this for 10 straight years … took about 9 years off to get married, have kids and progress my career … got back on the train last year.)
