Advice needed – Accept offer or not!

I am an international student who hasn’t worked since 2014. Past 3 years I was getting done with the CPA exams and licensing. Before 2014, I worked for an outsourcing firm as an accountant and managed bookkeeping for small and mid-sized US-based companies. I also have around 4 years of experience as an audit associate in India. This was all before 2014.

Now, I am authorized to work in the US and have been looking for jobs in accounting/auditing although my interest leans more toward Auditing. I have an offer on hand with a car wash company as an accountant. It’s a small company with about 15 employees in total. They are ready to hire me for a decent salary. I am yet to accept their offer. This was my first-ever interview in the US and they literally offered me the job right away.

I have been getting in touch with a few recruiters and actively applying for jobs too. I got feedback from one of the recruiters that their client likes my profile but are hesitant because I have a GAP in my career.

It has not been long since I’ve started applying and I feel I’ve not explored more or given many Interviews yet. I know that I will learn a lot if I accept this offer but just feeling a little uncomfortable that I might be losing out on my dream job.

Looking for some advice here. Should I accept the job offer from this small company?

I'd take it. You have to start somewhere. Don't forgo a good opportunity because it's not your “dream” job.

Who knows, maybe your dreams will change.
