While I’m in limbo waiting on scores, I figure I might knock out the ethics exam this week. But I’m a little confused by the options on the site. There is text, online for licensure, and just online. Does anyone know what the differences are? I just want to make sure I get the right one.
Before anyone asks, I am definitely in a state that requires this (Illinois). I got the link for the course directly from the Board’s website.
Any help would be appreciated!December 10, 2017 at 5:00 pm #1676557

I ordered mine (I am IL too!). I ordered the book…but now I wish I would have ordered the Online version.
The book is basically a paperback textbook. There is a test code on the inside. Ordering the materials is basically like ordering the test as well, from what I gather. I haven't taken it just yet. I am still recovering from my brutal FAR experience from yesterday. I hope to take it before Christmas.
According to a coworker of mine, the PDF online version allows you to search a bit easier (as opposed to a physical book). If I could order again, I would do the Online 2017 (for licensure).
Good luck! 🙂December 10, 2017 at 6:04 pm #1676567
Perfect! That’s exactly what I needed to know! I wasn’t sure if I should do the licensure one or not. Thank you so much!December 13, 2017 at 4:11 pm #1677725
Welllll that was about the easiest thing I've ever done. But at least it's one less thing to hold my certificate if I ever pass the real exam.December 13, 2017 at 4:37 pm #1677745fblessed777Participant
Hi Jennifer, Great! you made it. Am thinking to take the Ethics exam as well, what do you advise me? How is your preparation strategy? Thank you!December 13, 2017 at 4:42 pm #1677748
If you're doing the AICPA ethics exam, then get the PDF book and print out the exam in the back. Then go through the book using Ctrl + F to figure out the answers. I circled all of the answers, just hoping they would be on the actual exam. Then when I went to the exam, it was exactly what I had printed out from the back of the book. Used my previously discovered answers and was done. Total time about one hour.December 13, 2017 at 7:00 pm #1677838KsyuParticipant
Glad that you passed your ethics exam. I was wondering where did you get the PDF version of the book? I bought the online course (for licensure) and started today but I only watch videos and I don't see the option to download the PDF book. Please let me know where did you find it. Thanks!December 13, 2017 at 7:08 pm #1677842
I can’t see it on my phone, but when you’re in the course there was an option for like resources or something, and in there was a student manual or something similar. That was the book PDF.December 13, 2017 at 7:13 pm #1677848KsyuParticipant
Got it! Thank you so much! 🙂December 13, 2017 at 9:05 pm #1677881fblessed777Participant
@jenni, Thanks a lot.December 14, 2017 at 9:32 pm #1678396
Jennifer – Is this your last exam? If so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. After seeing your exam results, I can't express how impressed I am with your resilience! This country needs more hard-working people like you. Let us know if your last exam went well 🙂
I'm waiting on my results this Tuesday. I'll do the ethics if I find out I passed. Thanks for the info.December 15, 2017 at 6:44 am #1678433
@Jun I’m waiting on 2 scores, so I could potentially be done next week. I’m very anxiously waiting for the scores. I figured ethics doesn’t expire and if it was done would be one less thing holding up my license.December 15, 2017 at 7:32 am #1678438
Big day for you next week! My fingers are crossed. Let us know how it goes.
As a Canadian CA we have a reciprocity agreement where we only have to write the IQEX (essentially the REG) to get the CPA. Im waiting on results for that before I write ethics. If I fail, I don't think I'll rewrite, so no point in me doing ethics until I know. I'll also be licensing with Illinois 🙂
Can't wait until Tuesday!December 18, 2017 at 1:37 pm #1679293SONAParticipant

I got 92 on REG! I'm gonna be a CPA! 😀 😀 😀December 19, 2017 at 7:20 am #1680589
@jennifer – congrats on slaying REG for a second time! You're now closer than you've ever been to the final goal. CPA is within five more points on one more exam. Keep fighting!December 19, 2017 at 8:20 am #1680769
Congratulations @Jun! And thank you for the kind words! I was bummed by the score, but not surprised. I've already started the process to be able to reschedule next month. Ready to get it done once and for all!December 19, 2017 at 6:05 pm #1682477SONAParticipant
Wyoming is a state in United States Of America. 😉December 19, 2017 at 7:47 pm #1682623
@Jennifer – You're so close. I haven't written BEC, so I'm not the best person to give advice. But since you're in the last mile of this marathon, give it your absolute everything. Sacrifice everything in the next month and get it done. From a guy who has a few professional designations, they are the best investment you can make, and they pay dividends for the rest of your life. Forget about all the sunk costs and just look at next month. Destroy yourself for a month, and reap the amazing rewards for the rest of your life. You can do it! 🙂June 29, 2018 at 7:31 am #1855786AnonymousInactive
Hoping someone can assist on the ethics exam here as I see many people commenting it being in PDF format (maybe it has changed as it is now a lecture video with questions at the end).
My questions is can you go to the end and hit start exam, print them all out, then close out of the exam and re enter with the printout of all the questions?June 29, 2018 at 12:03 pm #1856443
Eric – that’s the same format. There is a PDF of the book in the resources tab, which I believe was found somewhere on the bottom right of the screen. In the back of the book there’s a test, and you can print that out. When you are in the test itself, you can only see one question at a time, so I don’t think you’d be able to print it out that way.June 29, 2018 at 12:16 pm #1856464AnonymousInactive
@Eric I just took mine (Online for Licensure option) and got a 97. You can save a PDF that is titled “Participant Manual” and the test in the back of the manual is the same as the real test. Go through it and find the answers by searching through the PDF then do the real test. You can access the manual by clicking “Resources” (I think) on the bottom right of the screen.June 29, 2018 at 12:52 pm #1856536AnonymousInactive
