    Hey guys!

I am in process of sending in my application for licensure in CA Board. I was wondering if any of you being an out of state candidate has done the fingerprinting in California. It is otherwise taking upto 4 months if the fingerprints cards are sent from another state to CA.

I did ask the licensing department if I can do the fingerprinting in CA at a Live Scan Service. They said I can if I am physically present in CA. FYI, I am residing in Colorado.

Any of you have experience with this and how to go about it?

    Hi,

    Per the CBA website:

Licensees residing in California need to submit fingerprints via Live Scan. Your notification letter will include a Request for Live Scan Service. Take the completed form to a Live Scan location. You may view a current list of Applicant Live Scan locations on the DOJ website.

    Non-California Residents – Hard Cards

As a licensee residing outside of California, you will need to submit your fingerprints via hard card. Included with your notification letter will be a fingerprint hard card. Only hard copy fingerprint cards furnished by the CBA will be accepted. Once your fingerprints are completed, mail the unfolded cards directly to the CBA at the address below.

@ Me : Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. 🙂

I did read this on the CBA licensing handbook too. What I am trying to understand is the process if an out-of-state candidate wants to do a Live Scan fingerprinting at CA rather than sending Hard Copy fingerprints(as its time taking).

I have also mailed the CBA licensing unit for more info. Here's what they replied to my previous email:

My Question: “I am a resident of Colorado. Can I still visit a Live Scan Service site for fingerprinting at California State? Or is it mandatory for me being an out of state candidate to use the hardcopy Fingerprint cards furnished by CBA?”

Reply from CBA: “If you are physically in California, you may be fingerprinted by Live Scan at an approved facility.”

https://www.coloradofingerprinting.com/ -> not sure if I can post external links, but I am not affiliated with this company in any way. I just used them to get my fingerprints in thru livescan @ Cali to obtain my CPA license.

If you go on their website, it'll say,

    California LiveScan Fingerprint Processing
Need to get your fingerprints processed with the California Department of Justice (DOJ) for licensing or other purposes? We use livescan to process your fingerprints with California DOJ with results returned within an average of 5-10 business days!”

Just call and let them know what you need and they will help you out. They have an affiliate in California they send the fingerprints to and the affiliate submits the fingerprints through Cali's livescan system.

    Good luck!

@Jombe: Thank you so much! I am so pleased to see your reply. Thanks for taking the time and letting me know how to go about it. I was planning to fly to California for live scan but this really helps.

Did you also fill up and take the Live scan application form on the CA Board website to the live scan centre?

@She : Not Sure whether you can see this now, but replies will be greatly appreciated!

I saw you are licensed in CA. Congratulations ! I have two questions regarding fingerprint and experience verification. I thought my situation is a little bit like yours but might be more complicated. Could you please share your experience here ?

    1) Did you fly to California to do the lives scan ? I think California board will mail you the live scan form once they receive the application form( For example : if your mailing address is CA , they will mail you live scan form otherwise fingerprint card ). How did you get the live scan form when your address is not CA?

    2) If the working experience is out of California, I think they will mail / email you one form to verify the experience. Did they mail it you ? How did you get it ?
