CPE Unit and Subject Area Requirements for First-Year Renewal.

    Hi,
    I am the first-time renewal of my CPA license in the state of CA, and I think I only need 20 units for renewal for each 6-month block.

    I know there is a CPE unit Subject Area requirement. Does anyone know how is that works for the first-year renewal? Do I need to meet that requirement?

    Is the subject “Taxes” consider Regulatory Review?

    The AICPA has a handy CPE tracker, which might be of use (it costs money).

    From experience, when in doubt on your CPE – email the state board and get it in writing.
