I passed all four sections of the cpa exam. I am researching what to do next.
Many people said that the state board will mail a congratulation package with steps of how to get licensed.
Should I wait for the package before taking the ethic exam?

By the way, what do you use to study for the ethic exam? Can I get material online for free?

    Thanks for replying!!

    Congrats!

I haven't ever heard that, only getting the certificate in the mail once you finish all the licensing steps. I passed in August and got licensed in October, and I still haven't gotten anything in the mail. The timeline they gave was 2-3 months after being officially licensed.

You purchase the study materials from the AICPA, and that includes the “exam” at the end. Mine was a little more than 40 MCQs. It's open book and you have multiple attempts. It took me about 6 hours one afternoon and passed it on the first attempt. To my knowledge there's no time limit either. Super simple and straightforward, I found it hard to believe that it was the same group that creates the CPA exams.

    BEC - 90 (7/19, 8 weeks)
    FAR - 78 (10/19, 10 weeks)
    AUD - 75 (12/19, 8 weeks)
    REG - 90 (7/20, ~12 weeks, split up)

Ethics - 97 (~6 hours to go through the material & take the quiz)
Licensed in Virginia (10/20, ~1.5 weeks to process after submitting everything)

@Sam Wow! Congrats to you too!!! Thanks for telling me ! I feel relief after reading your comment. I hope my ethic exam is easy.
Are you referring to the $199 professional conduct material?

No need to wait. The key is to submit everything the first time to avoid any delay, because in my case (CA) they would only review the application periodically (like once a month), not every time you submitted additional documentation.

The ethics exam is super easy and comes with everything you need to pass it.

Take CA Ethics immediately. The CA BOA directs all their phone calls to an IT guy in the CBA and don't take phone calls anymore during COVID-19. Submit everything once, get your firm(s) to sign off by emailing it to them (they don't check their mail all the time). Good luck.

Jenny – yes that course. And yes I just downloaded and printed the forms from the website – may vary by state by mine was the work-hours requirement, the CPE certification, and the extra credits to reach 150 if the board doesn't already have them all (just have the transcript sent to them). I sent it all together after I got the ethics certificate as well.

I've only heard NASBA will send you a YAY letter. Take ethics immediately. Depends on your state, file for license immediately if you qualifies. NJ allows you to take the Ethic exams before or after being license (within a certain time frame). So you might as well skip the line wait for the license while you study.

I waiting 4 months for my license.
