I received my BEC score and did not pass. I took it in the last testing cycle on 8/31. In review of my performance compared to the passing candidate performance, I realized that the "passing candidates" scores were not even over a 70. That column is supposed to "display the average performance of candidates who earned scores between 75 and 80 in the examination section". If that is the case, how are NONE of the sections above a 70.

My Report states the following for passing candidate performance

Business Structure: 69

Economic Concepts: 68

Financial Management: 70

Information Technology: 69

Planning & Measurement: 70

How is this possible and can any explain this to me???

On the bottom of the score report, it says you can't extract the information and arrive at your score. Basically, its supposed to be a tool used to study for a retake, nothing more.

Hey MWhite, seems you're very close to passing.

I passed BEC with a 77.

Take the exam again but Super Concentrate on IT and Business Strucutre – do the practice MCQs 3 times. There's so much material but you need to be strategic with what you know! Then memorize all the formulas for the rest of the material…always guess "B" on things you don't know. Keep in mind that the more difficult MCQs are given more points.

Hey performa, I'm super impressed with your relentless dedication to passing.

I would have thought about giving-up after failing a 2nd time, how did you keep your dedication going?

And how did you manage to pass AUDIT? What review material, study style…ect.?

This is common for BEC ~ the avg passing score for a candidate per section isn't over a 75.

Understand it I do not.

AUD - 79
BEC - 80
FAR - 76
REG - 92

Just about everybody I know has only passed BEC by a very narrow margin. Many people in our Masters class hit 90's on a lot of the exams, but BEC seemed to be the lowest scoring in general.

My take on passing these exams is that you need to do better than half the candidates taking the exam during your test window. On average 50% give or take a couple of percentages points pass the exam each window. So I believe to get that magical "75" you have to be in the top half. Depending on the exam, the number of candidates and the overall raw scores can lead to a wide feeling of whether a candidate feels like they passed or failed the exam when leaving the test center. I thought I did excellent on AUD the second time but only scored a 81 and did not feel nearly as great about FAR and scored an 80. You just have to study and learn the material and know only half the candidates in any given window will pass, your score may or may not be an overall indication of whether you know or do not know the material. Your score may be such that you were just not in the top half. Just my $.02.

My BEC score report made no sense either – I have no idea how I managed to get the 75! That's why you can't go off the numbers, you should just see which areas you are having trouble in and adjust your study plan to compensate.
