I applied for the CPA exam back in 2007 in Florida. I ended up not taking it in Florida and moved to New York in 2009. I have now taken all of the exams and pending a passing score on my last one (waiting for the Sept 10th scores) I will have finished them.

But, I’m so confused as to what to do after I pass them. I never applied in NY and I think my jurisdiction is Florida, even though I took all of the exams in NY. I will be living/working in NY. I figured I could just get my FL license and then transfer it up here, if that is even possible. Or do I just scrap that and go ahead and apply to NY as a first time person? I’m trying to figure out which is the easier and quicker path to getting my license. Can I apply in NY even though I was accepted in FL and my exam’s jurisdiction is FL. I don’t want to mess it up and then have to spend extra time getting it all worked out.

Call NY's state board. You must qualify as a CPA under their rules. If you have met all the other requirements specific to NY (education, work exp, etc) then you can apply for a license in NY. You need to do your research and figure out if you meet their requirements and if you need additional credits/work experience.
