Failed Sims=Passing?!

So I just took REG yesterday and it is my last section left. The MC weren’t that bad and the 2nd testlet was harder than the 1st, but really it wasn’t that bad overall. The questions just seemed to be more “wordy” and more calculation questions. Same thing goes for the 3rd testlet. Now…when I got to the SIMS??? I probably should have just walked out right then and there. There were around 2 questions that had two additional tabs of information to look at! 2!! Not 1, but 2!!! The research question has ridiculous too. Anyways, I just wanted to hear some feedback from people who felt the same way, but ended up passing….

When I took REG (which was my first exam) I felt like I bombed the simulations. I was very upset and told everyone (well everyone that knew I was taking the exam, I've tried to keep me taking the exam secret) that I failed. Turned out that I passed with an 83. You never know for sure until you get your score. Good luck, I hope you passed!

Kelz-Thanks for the update! Ya I honestly didn't feel great walking out of the exam, but how you said, you never know! I am just so over this exam I want to be done it finally! My software expires in mid sept, when I find out my score, so more $$ might need to be involved….sigh.

That seems to be the general consensus with REG, I had the exact same experience. I felt like I might as well have just left the sims blank because I was that unsure about them, but SOMEHOW I managed a passing score. In the REG exam experience thread it seems that a lot of people had a very similar experience! You should be fine, just stay positive!

Cournae-Thanks for you sharing your experience! I will definitely stay positive and whatever happens..happens! I saw people posted how they left 2 or 3 sims completely BLANK only to end up with an 80+. I honestly don't see how this is possible, unless they completely killed the MC….

Just took Reg today. I completely understand your feeling about the sims. The multiple choice were kind of challenging to me; however, I still fill that if the test was only multiple choice I probably did well enough to have passed… But then I step into the sims. Literally 4 of the 6 I felt like I was just making up my own calculations because I had no idea how to even begin to get to the answers they were looking for.

Definitely was pretty discouraging since I put more time and effort studying for this test then I have for any of the test I've taken so far.

But good luck on score release day!

Just took REG. I dont usually post around here, but this was just brutal. I believe I did fairly well on MCQs, but when it came to SIMS, i did feel like just walking out. Each sim had like probably 10+ calculations required, and 2 I had to leave blank cuz I ran out of time..similar experience to krater23. I hope, since they were hard, everyone does bad enough for a huge curve.

Cburn- I feel the exact same frustration as you. Since this is my last section, I put more time into it than any other section. I have used Becker for all the other sections, but for REG, additionally I used Ninja Notes, Ninja Audio, and WileyTest Bank…..don't get me started on those ridiculous hard problems. Best of luck to you as well!

xpert- I usually don't post around here either.. I am one of those readers only members, but I had to say something after that REG experience. I feel like I was doing the same thing by making up calculations for some of them. Who knows, maybe they worked for part of the question….

I feel like I did well on the MC's and if I get like 50-60% on the SIMS, I think I should be able to pass…..at least I hope that's at least a 75…..

I didn't feel awesome after REG but ended up pulling a 77. However, my most recent exam, FAR, I thought I completely bombed. I walked out of there thinking I got a 50. I knew my two research SIMS, but honestly, the other SIMS I felt like I was just guessing as best as I could. Even the MCQ's I thought I did horribly on. I told everyone I failed. And I got a 76! You NEVER know.

Hopefully you'll surprise yourself when the scores are released!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.
