Where to begin… I somehow got through one section BEC luckily with a 76..but I just got my score back from REG got killed with a 62…I put in 350 hours of study time… and used Becker and Becker Final Review…but the exam seemed foreign especially the Sims, no kidding I def. got all them wrong..which is frustrating. During my homeworks, I was flying through with 80s at one point during my studying, I felt like I was well-prepared and I knew my material. It certainly was not a case of me putting in the time…because I sacrificed a lot, and I knew my material I feel kinda down and need a pick me up motivation speech or something to get the fire lit again. If anyone has any suggestions or tips, or has had a similar experience with REG any advice would be greatly appreciated because my motivation has just been trounced and I feel completely discouraged….

REG is a nightmare! Or at least it was my nightmare child. I used Gleim, Yaeger and Roger over 8 attempts. Gleim just did not work for me. Yaeger and Roger both use Wiley so I worked the problems so many times I had them memorized. I got the Ninja notes and audio for attempt #8 and went from 68 to 84. It all fell into place when I added those. You know more than you think, you just need to tie it all together. Good luck!

Don't give up, don't give in ConstantPainAgain.

You can do this. I'm just starting my REG studies so I don't have any REG specific advice. But I have failed an exam when I felt completely prepared. And it sucks. It is very disheartening. But we can't let it keep us down. We will still pass them all. We will still become CPAs. It just might take a little longer than we originally anticipated.

If you took REG during the 1st test window, based on the consensus in the REG test experience forum, this particular window had an especially difficult exam; I have to agree. I took REG last November (72), and it was challenging then but the 2nd test I took this February was indescribable. Thanks to the Lord I passed with a 76. Most of the passing scores fell between 75 and 79, with only a few higher than a 79.

Continue to study hard and retake the test during the 2nd window. You have a good chance of passing taking the test a 2nd time – provided you apply yourself (and pray some).

F - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.
B - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.
A - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.
R - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.

i had a very similar experience

as you can see in my sig i struggled with REG, i used becker, yaeger, gleim and was a beast in mcq but was always weaker in sims. the way i finally passed was to actually study the sims, not just do them once just to say i did them but to actually know them inside and out…it brang my understanding to a whole new level when i thought i already knew the topics.

the thing with REG sims are they are all fill in the blank so you either know it or you don't and the questions they ask are like wtf??? its easier to guess on a mcq when 4 options are in front of you but you can't pull that with a fill in the blank

studying sims increases your knowledge on the topic, you will not see the same sim on your exam and the good thing is that you only have to study the tax sims, blaw isn't tested

i need to take my own advice because the last exam i took i was stronger in 3/6 topics and comparable on the other 3 and only scored a 69, which means i bombed the sims

    good luck!

Keep your chin up. Try not to pay attention too much to your MC scores. Try to focus more on understanding the information when your performing a question. What I think is important for going through REG sims is having enough time and taking your time. Don't try to rush yourself and skim through the sims and work on the easiest to the hardest in your opinion. Use Authoritative Literature to help you if you can.

    BEC (11/17/12): 88
    AUD (1/18/13): 76
    REG (2/27/13): 88
    FAR (4/15/13): 90
