Retook REG today…feel much worse than 1st time

Took REG this past summer and just got 74. So I studied even harder and retook it today.

The moment I walked out of the test center, I am pretty sure that my life is screwed.

I didn’t think I did well in the first testlet, but it was still acceptable.

    Then the 2nd testlet…totally nightmare.

I did pretty well in the Becker practice questions. Since I practiced with those questions at least twice, I am pretty familiar with the format of the questions.

But today? No way that would gonna happen.

I marked more than 50% of the questions. And it was obvious that I missed a lot, so I got a much easier 3rd testlet.

Spent too much time on MCQ and left two SIMs incomplete…did part of them but incomplete.

I don’t know if this is other people’s case. But I am pretty sure I have to retake REG in Jan…

FAR: 75 (almost get expired...but finally survived)
BEC: 89 (I honestly don't know how I can get the score--BEC is not easy at all)
REG: 74, 76 (worked my butt off to get the extra 2 point...but worth it!)
    AUD: 74, 80 (REALLY?)

I take it as a good sign. The 3rd time I took aud I left in tears convinced there would be a 4th time. I was SO rattled in fact that I forgot my drivers license at prometric.

I started studying for round 4 before I got my score.

    I got an 84.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Feeling awful is usually an indication of a pass. I'd suggest you start studying for AUD and stay positive.

    - passed all 4 exams on my first try using Becker!

    Ethics: TBD

Thanks for your encouragement. I know what I am saying is useless cuz it won't change the fact. I do know some questions that I should nail and I ended up guessing, because I forgot the detail of certain lines in the book. Felt bad about those questions but what else could I do? REG has so many material to cover and I told myself this is thus far the best I can do.

But for those I haven't seen before, haven't practiced before, I feel I was beaten hard. They are either not from the textbook or not covered in the practice questions.

1st time I didn't pass, but I felt OK cuz I knew where the questions were from. But this time it was just so brutal.

    Anyway thanks for the words.

I agree. Will continue to review for AUD. Gonna take it this Friday. Though it is 2nd time, still feel uncertain thus far cuz have got very limited time for some optional practice in Becker.

    Doing my best.

Just a note: Medium/Hard/Easy structured testlets have led to scoring in the 80's and close to the 90's for my girlfriend and I.

If anything, rest easy in the fact that you did everything you could during the studying process. …Unless you didn't. In that case, you know what you would need to work on next time. 🙂

    Rooting for you!

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

Taking the exam and answering questions/simulations is just 1 part of the equation.

nobody on this forum or else, knows what other varibales go in to compute the final scores. Difficulty of question is also one of the ingredients, also dont forget, people who take take the exam during busy season Jan- April, has a better pass rate chance pass, cause public acctg people are busy so they skip taking exams in these months.

Just relax , sit tight and let the chips fall. You did your part, not let the funky equation work….

I agree with you. But I have been through all sections at least once. Comparing with the practice problems (I use Becker) I can have a pretty good sense of whether I know the stuff or not. It was the case for all sections until this time.

What really scared me today is that the questions are in totally different forms than what I have been practicing. The contents are either off the textbook or from the very tiny corner in some lines unhighlighted/never appeared in practice questions.

Plus, I know sometimes I chose the wrong answer even though I know the stuff and even though I should have nailed it. This adds to the certainty that I have to prepare for the 3rd time…
