I have a bachelors in both accounting and marketing. Any jobs/careers you can think of that would utilize both? I like accounting alright but think I may be happier if there was something that would utilize my creativity as well.December 24, 2019 at 2:52 pm #2859588vbmerParticipant
Accounting has more creative potential than marketing. 🙂
Pricing and revenue management have potential. At the very least, you will work with both accountants and marketers. Also, some level of accounting knowledge would be very useful in positions responsible for strategy and P&L such as commercial strategy and brand management. A marketer with a CPA can have a lot easier time convincing the finance department to approve their projects than one without. If you were thinking of more “creative” positions like marcom or advertising, probably not so much.December 24, 2019 at 3:34 pm #2859669MaLoTuParticipant
Maybe you can get into finance then transition to business development that could be a way to leverage both degrees.January 13, 2020 at 5:02 pm #2886306TiffParticipant
I work at a firm that let's me do both. When I started I was very audit/tax focused, but as time went on I began enjoying and attending more recruiting events. Now I have completely transitioned into the marketing side. It's what gives me energy. I have people from the accounting side join me at campus events, host in-house events and assist me with professional development presentations all the time. Think – presentations on resume building, firm brand development, etc. It's not a complete 50/50 mix, but the accounting people who do enjoy attending those sorts of events have lots of opportunity to do so.
