Education Requirements

    I called NASBA when I sent in my application to ask if my Math 097 was allowed since it was below college level. The man said he had never heard of a below college level class, but if it was earned for credit it would count. Any class earned for credit counts towards the 150 credits. That was a big relief, but at the same time I felt this sounded odd. I feel like I read some where that below college level classes don’t count, but I can’t find it on NASBA, the WA state website, or on the educational requirements handout. It looks like I may still need 4 credits if he is incorrect. I e-mailed the WA coordinator for NASBA today to see if he was right, but I haven’t gotten a reply.

    Anyhoo, if I still need 4 credits what is the fastest way to obtain them? I looked at LSU’s online program, but it seems all the classes are 3 credits, and I don’t want to pay/take more than I need to. I like how you can complete at your own pace. I thought about going to the community college, but it says that if my 150 credits are complete, I won’t see my exam scores until then, and spring quarter grades won’t post till mid June. I wanted to take FAR in April and AUD in May, but I won’t even know my scores until the end of June (add in transcript mail time & processing). I won’t even know if I need to start studying for a re-take until the beginning of the next testing window. Anyone know of another place to take online classes at my own pace that have a variety of credits available to earn? I just want to get my education done and get on with my testing. Any easy class will do. I just want to finish the 4 credits. 🙁

    @Ashley

    I would not take an online class from a private college since they are super price. Take any class at a community college even PE classes will count toward the 150 credits. You can take classes to fufill your interests or professional development.

    Thanks for the input. I finally figured out my schedule at the community college that will fit into my schedule nice. I will take 2 geology classes (1 credit each) that will take 2 1/2 days out of the quarter to complete. I've taken these before, so I know they are interesting and fun, but don't require anything too much. I also will take a 2 credit p.e. class that requires 3 gym (at the college) visits a week on my own time. I already like to exercise, so that's nice I can get credit for it. I didn't want to get bogged down with lots of writing assignments/test studying that other classes have. Too bad the quarter isn't finished until June 14th. It seems so far away.

    Take a foreign lanagage course, many places have 4 credits for foreign language. Especially if it is a language you can speak at home but didn't take college classes for. Or get CLEP credit for it.
