So the drawing for the Mega Millions will be on Friday.

The jackpot: Annuity – $476,000,000 (would you really choose this? – time value of money, son)

    Lump Sum – $341,000,000

    1. Who’s buying a ticket? $1 for huge ROI

    2. And how would you spend it?

First, I’d contact a good lawyer and a CPA.

I would make sure my immediate family were all good financially, buy a few toys (fast cars, fast boat etc.), a regular sized house, travel a bit and live comfortably for the rest of my life.

I think I’d still try to finish this exam just to say I did.

    Now your turn!

My friend (who is also studying for the CPA exam) and I have been buying tickets for the last couple of weeks because it is the only thing that we get to look forward to because we are studying for FAR so much (which is kind of pathetic since the odds of winning are like 1 in 174,000,000). We pitch in $5 each drawing and the closest we have come to winning is matching the first two numbers. I would still finish this exam if I won… it might just be hard to concentrate!

Oh and we don't feel bad about losing our money because at least some of it goes towards education and not to a Vegas casino!

You guys have a much higher chance of passing all 4 exams than winning Mega Millions.

How about the first 5 people who post numbers, I'll play their numbers and after we win ..me and the winning person will split it 50/50. First pick 5 numbers from 1 to 56 and then one mega number from 1 to 46. I always ask my friends to do that and the most we have won is $13 I think lol. btw I work where I have access to the lottery machine 🙂

After taxes and what not ..im sure that change left over will be still enough to retire :p

wait if the chances are 1 in 175 million, and the cash options gives you before taxes of about $350 million. It would be worth spending $175 million to buy a winning ticket. After the 39% tax you would walk away with $213 million. So you can still profit of more than $35 million. Of course if more than one person wins the jackpot and its split between all the winners…well sucks for you then. lol

Okay back to doing my MCQ!

Except you get screwed if someone else has a winning ticket then the jackpot is split and you would probably lose money… But if no one else won then yes

@Hut-Hut, i think there is more of a chance of a person passing all 4 parts in a week than that number ever coming out. But either way i played it ..lol

and all 3 of you owe me a $1 each 🙂

You are 12x more likely to die driving to buy the ticket than you are to win.

I tell strangers this in convenience stores all of the time as they plop down their cash to buy a ticket. They're usually not all that amused.

Once I have won the Mega Millions, I am going to establish about ten Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts at my CURRENT place of employment. I want them to think about me every quarter when they are paying me.
