Work is killing me

Anyone just completely struggling with work/study balance? It’s funny because I think it’s supposed to be work/life balance but to me it’s become work/study balance. Life is on hold.

I am seriously struggling although I kind of knew this was coming. March 31st is Fiscal Year End for my company and I’m sure people in tax have a “busy season” right now so I bet I’m not alone. I have been completely unable to get time to study since I passed FAR. I scheduled AUD for May 22nd, so I should be okay if I pick studying back up soon but it’s KILLING ME that I am unable to study right now.

I thought if I worked 13 hours a day for a week I could get caught up, and it’s just not happening. I’m at the office for 13+ hours a day and it’s been going well over a week but the work refuses to get caught up. I hate to think of my 18 month window ticking away, but I guess this is just part of the whole challenge. I think I’m just going to have to realize that I can’t study until April 1st at which point I have to flip the switch and just go 100% study mode regardless of my workload.

Today is my Bday and I’ll probably be putting in about 12 hours at the office. I don’t really care about my Bday these days but it just adds to the frustration that I can’t get away from work for anything.

Just needed to vent. A71 seems to pick me up mentally when I’m ready to fall apart. Thanks to anyone for listening 🙂

First and most importantly, Happy Birthday!! Sorry you're feeling so stressed, especially today 🙁

I think AUD is the best section to be studying for during a busy season b/c you can go through the MCQ's pretty quickly. They aren't calculation heavy like a lot of the FAR and BEC (and from what I've heard, REG) questions.

Also, even if you didn't start studying for AUD until April 1st, I think you'll still have plenty of time. I started studying Jan. 2 and took the exam on 2/27, and I could have easily taken the exam 2-3 weeks before I had scheduled to take it.

    Good luck 🙂

Happy Bday! Don't stress it… judging by your FAR score, you should be golden on AUD… once you get the hang of the material, the MCQ's go very quick, I remember at some point I could do 200 in about 2-3 hours (with A71 breaks). If you only take 1 test next window, don't worry, you can take revenge the 3rd window and knock out BEC and REG and be done!

    Happy birthday!

I totally understand what you are feeling. Last year I started studying for AUD (took it at the end of May) after tax season…maybe around the end of April, and it was enough time. It is not necessarily about the amount of time studying but also the quality of the studying. If you can put in the appropriate time and studying into AUD when things quiet down at work, you should be fine.

Good luck and don't let the pressure get to you!

Its brutally hard and I know where you're coming from, just dig in DEEP and get through it, by this time next year you'll be DONE and be able to just “enjoy” your 13 hour work days 😉

    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Thanks everyone… It's kind of funny it feels like I can bank on A71 to help keep my head on straight. I love the support on here. Many thanks for the Bday wishes!

@mla… LOL, so true that this time next year I can get back to enjoying my 13 hour work day 🙂

It's usually not THIS bad… 10 days til we close the books for fiscal year end and then I can get back to full blown study mode (work 9 hrs study 3-4 hrs per weekday then go all out on weekends). I want to keep up my momentum from FAR, still super excited I passed. Never busted my tail so hard for an exam in my life.
