Those who have taken Professional Ethics: The AICPA's Comprehensive Course Online (For Licensure) — The exam that appears right after you complete the course is the one you need to pass, right? The book provides a separate link where you can take the exam after inputting a serial number. I am confused!April 26, 2017 at 8:21 am #1539127Trele6Participant
The exam in the book is the same exam you will take “officially” when you click the link.
Basically they give you a copy of the exam to work on and work through. Once you finish it, log in and then copy your answers over to the real exam and click submit.April 26, 2017 at 8:23 am #1539138
The exam that I am supposed to take is the one that's right after all the lectures, right? I have read things about going to a certain website and inputting a serial number to access the exam.April 26, 2017 at 8:25 am #1539139
I am enrolled in the online course by the way.April 26, 2017 at 12:24 pm #1539295Trele6Participant
Serial number is only if you have the book (hardcopy version) I believe.February 11, 2018 at 1:48 pm #1711340AnonymousInactive
I have exactly the same confusion. I cannot find the serial number in the online version and I'm not sure if the exam I passed after the course is the actual ethics exam. Can someone please help?February 11, 2018 at 10:11 pm #1711621Cluster SlugsParticipant
Haven't taken the ethics exam yet and am glad i stumbled on this post. Is the online format even worth it with the level of confusion about where to submit the exam? Sounds like the hard copy might just be easier and a sure thing…February 11, 2018 at 10:37 pm #1711625
@Cluster I took the online version in December and found it extremely easy to use. You get a pdf of the book and there is an exam in the back. I printed that out and worked through the book to find rhe answers. Turned out that was the same exam I had to take to pass. Whole thing took me about an hour and a half.February 12, 2018 at 5:59 pm #1712261Cluster SlugsParticipant
ok thanks @Jennifer. I was confused about whether the content was delivered in PDF with a practice exam as part of the PDF or if there was a URL link to a practice exam. It looks like people were struggling to determine which one was the “actual” exam. I'll go with the online version then. Thanks!February 12, 2018 at 8:37 pm #1712402
There is no “practice exam.” There is a link for the exam within the course and you’ll get your results and certificate immediately once you pass. You have 3 tries and up to a year to pass. There’s a pdf version of the book. Really, it’s very simple. I wouldn’t stress.May 25, 2018 at 4:38 pm #1810040spandey27Participant
Hi How can i find the AICPA ethics exam book in pdf? Please let me know. thanksJune 6, 2018 at 12:21 pm #1823366AnonymousInactive
I have the same problem, I don't find the PDF book. Can someone tell me where it is? ThanksJune 7, 2018 at 7:21 am #1824184
When you are in the course, on the bottom right corner there should be a folder named “Resources.” Click on that, and it will bring up all sorts of stuff. The Participant Manual is the pdf version of the book.
Hope this helps!June 7, 2018 at 7:24 am #1824187BourneParticipant
Isn't it kind of ironic NY doesn't require the ethics exam? I mean it isn't like it really does anything for you, but after all the corruption that occurs in NYC you'd think the center of the financial world would require some sort of ethics courseJune 7, 2018 at 8:00 am #1824239AnonymousInactive
Thanks Jennifer. I found the “resource”. I am glad I read your another post and purchased the PDF version. Printing out the exam and searching in PDF are very easy work.June 7, 2018 at 8:10 am #1824251
@ckcpa18 I agree. I was surprised it was that easy, but I wasn't complaining. I was happy to knock it out without too much fuss.September 19, 2018 at 9:58 am #1983662AnonymousInactive
do you all even recommend studying for this ethics exam then if you can “take” the test before hand to find all the answers?September 28, 2018 at 11:28 am #2000483Rainbow ButterflyParticipant
Just making sure I've got this right. I purchased the hard copy (waiting for it to arrive). I read the book, fill out the paper copy of the exam. Use the code to log into website. take online exam (which is exactly like paper copy?). Then celebrate finishing all the CPA exams.September 30, 2018 at 12:09 pm #2002886AnonymousInactive
The AICPA ethics exam isn't the same testing format as the CPA exams. Once you submit your answer for a question and move to the next one you can't go back and change your answer. I breezed through it and expected to be able to review all the ones I guessed on at the end but after the last question I just saw my score. I was super lucky to pass.October 1, 2018 at 4:03 pm #2005007ds34168Participant
This one is a pain in the butt. Failed twice and I am going to try the 3rd time this weekend.October 2, 2018 at 10:25 am #2006261Rainbow ButterflyParticipant
Thanks Greg! I had no idea about the no back buttonNovember 13, 2020 at 9:06 am #3154542inviteyouParticipant
I'm reading this thread in November 2020. I just downloaded the AICPA Ethics Exam PDF version of the book by accessing the Resources tab/Participant manual, however, I do not see a practice exam in the PDF book. I found something on page 221 but it isn't a practice exam. Am I overlooking something? Or are they no longer including the practice exam in the PDF version? Any insights would be helpful! Thank you.November 13, 2020 at 6:21 pm #3155682SamParticipant
I did it last month and didn't see a practice exam, only the real one at the end of the course. May have just missed it though! I wouldn't have bothered with it though, since we have the PDF to reference and I spent a few solid hours with the material.November 14, 2020 at 1:16 pm #3156138inviteyouParticipant
Thank you Sam, very helpful. I used the PDF version of the book to complete and passed on the first try. There were a couple that stumped me, but I passed with a 93. There were 46 questions in total. It took me a little over two hours to complete.
