i’m getting confused now.
they don’t answer the phone and the website directs us to email for a request an extension.
so, i emailed and received automated email reply saying,

i know NASBA recommended all state boards to extend for NTS and credit expiring
Should i just resend since they said email back after reviewing CBA website (which asked us to send request… what?!) ?

Received a very strange response from Maine Board of Accountancy. I wanted credit extension for REG and all they told me was to contact PROMETRIC? Im like they only provide testing and not extend credits so I sent them a second email and ever since I haven't heard from them. This is absolutely a difficult time for me and other candidates as well

I'm from CA too. I emailed them last Monday after the SIP order and it took them 2 days to come back with the same automated response that you received. I emailed renewalinfo@cba.ca.gov the second time after talking to someone on the phone asking about my credit extension. The first time I emailed examinfo

@asdf yes, basically something like that. I have family that is more high-risk so I've been taking care of them and their business, as well as update this forum to see if anyone has any news, as well as update local news, AS WELL as see if there's any news on Twitter from the Board. A lot of divided attention to anticipate if CA is kind enough to just automatically extend everyone's 18 mo credit =P

Yes, email renewalinfo, at least you'll get a nonautomated response. But then the formal letter of request will be sent to examinfo anyway so we'll see if this will be a continuation of email tag

I had a problem with the responsiveness of the MA board of accountancy a couple of years ago with respect to my licensure. I got some mileage out of contacting the state's society of CPAs. The MA Society for CPAs has an Academic/Career Development office, and a contact there was able to liase with the board and get a response. Judge the urgency of your respective situations, but the CPA professional association may be a more responsive avenue to getting a response or clarification from the board itself.

@CPA2be I applied for an extension for my REG exam expiring 10/17/2020 three weeks ago and I've sent a follow up email once a week since. They said they are “working very hard” to process my request. I basically wrote a business memo along with a doctor's note requesting for an extension. I am in Santa Clara County and I don't think my testing centers within a 2 hr drive will open till May 3.

I get the same automated response below. Do your exams expire between April and June? Have you seen an extension for your credit in the CBA portal?

Prometric Test Center Closures

Prometric has closed its test centers in the United States and Canada, effective March 18, 2020 and anticipate re-opening April 16, 2020.

Notice to Schedule (NTS) Extensions

CPA Exam candidates with a NTS expiring between April 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020, will be extended to September 30, 2020.

CPA Exam Credit Extensions

CPA Exam candidates with one or more CPA Exam credits that will expire on or before June 30, 2020, will be granted a 90-day extension of the credit(s) through September 30, 2020.

There is no need to contact the Board at this time.
