Anyone else have Depression, OCD, or Back issues?

I hope this is a relevant post, but I’m sure I am not alone with other accounting majors and CPA exam candidates. Does anyone else have depression, OCD, or back issues? I have moderate depression, OCD (mostly obsessed with accounting and perfectionism), and a herniated disk. These issues have not been easy, but I do the best I can. Does anyone else deal with these issues and what are your remedies? Sorry if this is not appropriate, but I’m sure there are others struggling with depression, OCD, or back issues while trying to tackle the Exam and their degree. Thanks for any feedback and keep up the hard work!

I agree with monikernc, not that your questions are inappropriate, but the severity of the conditions you mention vary greatly from person to person and your best source of guidance is a doctor.

Thanks for all your responses and again sorry if this question is somewhat inappropriate for this forum. However, I figured another student or candidate may have had some similar experiences while studying due to high stress and information overload. A Doctor definitely is the best answer. Thanks!!!

Yes. Minus the OCD. I'm your typical type A accountant, but nothing I'd consider medically to be OCD. Studying brings out the worst though. And the thought of putting so much time and effort into something that you could potentially fail, chalked up to bad luck with questions you're unsure of. Makes me crazy! And yes I have a handful of neck/back issues, and after studying all day I can never move my neck, and my back is always swollen on one side. Oh the joy! I feel your pain. Hang in there.

DONE DONE DONE and DONE all on the first try! It IS possible, just keep on studying!

Yes. I have a bulging disk (and before anyone starts- I have seen a doctor). Mine is not enough that I would choose to do anything besides take an advil, but an 8 to 10 hour study day kills my neck. It really is draining to have pain while trying to study. I actually sit on the floor and look up at my computer to study sometimes. Hang in there! You will get there. Everyone has obstacles. 😉

Thanks for your response and feedback! It makes me realize there are others with depression and back issues who are tackling the CPA Exam. My back is usually swollen more on one side and chronic studying screws up my neck too. I need to stretch and start physical therapy again.

Also, thanks for your feedback and suggestions. The bulging/herniated disc is no joke, but consider yourself lucky if Advil relieves the pain. I wish I could say the same. But, studying all day kills my beck and low back too.

Thanks again for all your responses. I have literally worked my fricking ass off to get here and needed some encouragement. I'm seeing a doctor and counselor tomorrow so I can get more stable. I have sacrificed so much to earn outstanding grades and to be prepared for the Exam. Just need to tough it out and learn to take more breaks and exercise. Goodluck to you all!
