I recently graduated on June 12th with a BS and all of the 225 units required. I am wondering how people are able to sit for the exams prior to getting their degree conferred to them, I live in California. My counselor told me that my official transcripts will be ready by the end of July. I also know that it will take the CBA at least 8-12 weeks to process my information since I am a first-time applicant. I do not want to waste all of this time on paperwork while I could be knocking out CPA exams before I start working. Is there a way for me to sit for the exams while all this paperwork is getting processed?

No, but you may be able to apply another state that is quicker at the same time. NC is pretty quick, no residency requirement, no NASBA middleman – more money and you will still have to transfer grades and meet CA education requirements at some point but you can do all that as a NC candidate or another state that process their own applications. Bottom line, though, your education has to be evaluated and approved before you can take the exams in any state.

Thanks for the response, I guess ill have to play the waiting game. Do you know if it is a good idea to mail my application remittance form the next day after I have requested my transcripts to be sent to the CBA? Or do I need to wait until they have approved my educational requirements to mail in my remittance form?
