Ninjas, I need your advice. I am applying for my first NTS and am unsure what to do. According to:
https://cpacentral.nasba.org/ “Due to extremely high application volume, please allow up to six weeks for processing.”

I had wanted to start with FAR, and knock out the rest by the end of the year. I’m in Florida, so my NTS is good for 6 months, but I’m having a hard time justifying paying for all four exams at once. Seeing as there is a possible delay due to application volume, should I bite the bullet? I was really hoping to take the first exam on 9/10/17 (Currently, there are appointments available at my local Prometric) but I’m afraid I won’t even get my NTS by then.

Should I study for FAR and pray my NTS comes through quickly enough to schedule the exam? Should I bite the bullet and pay for all parts of the exam?

Have you already sent in your transcripts? If not, at this point, I'd say there is no chance you are testing this window. You could keep studying FAR and take it at the very beginning of next testing period but it would be tough to fit all four in that window. I applied last year in mid September (sent my transcripts the same day as applying) and didn't get my NTS until the end of November. It will be possibly to take all 4 within the 6 months, just not likely by the end of this year.

Thanks @industryCPA, I have already submitted the application (along with my transcripts) to the state last year, but I only applied for the REG.

I'm just confused. I got a letter from the Florida Board of Accountancy stating I've been approved to sit for the CPA exam. When I log into the NASBA website, it gives me the option of selecting all four parts. Does that mean all I have to do is apply on the NASBA website to be able to get an NTS to get an appointment from Prometric?

Ah I'm sorry, my state uses CPA Central so I'm not really sure how that works. I do know that after my first application, when apply for a different NTS it only took 4 days so you might have hope after all if you've already been accepted

Thanks for your help. Florida also uses CPA Central, but was confused about the state's application to sit for the exam. Florida allows you to select which portion of the exam you'll take on the application, though it doesn't matter to NASBA (per my phone call with them) as long as you've been approved to sit for the exam.

I thought that I had to submit a new application to the state every time I wanted to take an exam, get approved from the state again, and then request the NTS from NASBA. I was making it more complicated than it actually was.
