    NINJA Question –

    Hi, guys!

I am studying for a retake of FAR and wanted to share my Ninja MCQ stats with you in hopes that you could guide me in the right direction of when I should take the exam. The very latest I can take it is the 17th because my classes start back that week. The 17th is when I plan on sitting for it, although I haven’t scheduled it yet – I want to make sure I’m ready and not cram based on a specific date. These are my current stats.

    Total question attempts: 1557
    Questions Not Answered Correctly: 754
    Questions Not Seen: 305
    Average Score: 67%
    Average Trending Score: 73.40%

Progress by category (in parenthesis is the performance related to my failing score of 67):
    Conceptual Framework (comparable): 76%
    Financial Statement Accounts (weaker): 74%
    Specific Transactions/Events (stronger): 75%
    Governmental (comparable): 65%
    NFP (stronger): 77%
My goal is to finish all of the questions not seen (305) then start on those not answered correctly. I am 56% through adaptive learning and would like to hit the review stage before I sit. I am currently doing only new questions averaging about 100 day and then doing sims, as well. Do you think the 17th is an appropriate day, or should I sit sooner/later?

    AUD - 68, 79
    REG - 75
    BEC - 82

You could compare to my progress as I am about to sit for the FAR exam tomorrow (1/6)

I finished every single question about two days ago and recorded:

    Average: 81%
    Trending: 85.4%
    Q's not answered correctly: 225
    Q's not seen: 0

My scores are significantly higher now due to the fact that I have been doing a lot of repeat/trouble questions since then so I'm not even considering my scores anymore going into the exam. I think you might start seeing a lot of repeat questions sooner than you might want to based on the low amount of questions you haven't seen compared to the length of time you still have to study…if that makes sense? So maybe consider focusing on ‘quality over quantity' when doing your MCQs? I made it a point to emphasize Financial Statement Accounts this time around a bit more as that was my weaker scoring area as well whatever that truly means.

I've gone from a 68…72…and plan on getting that 75 tomorrow!

    AUD - 75
    BEC - 71
    FAR - 84
    REG - 76
    FAR- 68, 72, 84
    AUD- 65, 75
    BEC- 71, 77

Thanks! I am doing testlets of new questions only so I'm currently only completing the ones I haven't seen, so no repeats. I am hoping to get all of those completed by Monday and then use all of next week to review the ones I've missed/repeat questions. I'm sure that will probably bump my score up but I have noticed my scores lately have been 70s, 80s, and 90s instead of 60s and 70s like before so I feel like I have improved. I just don't know when I will enter the “sweet spot” of perfect timing to sit. Do you remember what your average/average trending was before you began doing a lot of repeats?

The scores I listed are just before I started noticing repeat questions and consciously recognizing them as repeat questions. Right now my trending is around a 91 or so because I had been focusing on ‘trouble questions' which are obvious repeats. I only recently felt a sense of calm about the exam which could relate to the ‘sweet spot' that you referred to. There is another post on here recently about when should one “feel ready” for the exam that you should check out to give you some insight as to how everyone else is feeling leading up to the exam.
