I’ve been so discouraged because I retook FAR and ended up with 71.
Took almost a month to recover, but in the meantime, took REG on 9/9 and waiting now.

I am going to restudy FAR. I really need your advice this time.

Iā€™ve studied with Bisk and went over its MCQs 3 times. Didnā€™t use Ninja MCQ much.
Because I thought the difficult level of NINJA were too hard compare to released questions and too detailed.

My FAR result was 3 strongers / 2 weakers on Conceptual framework, NFP. And weaker on Sims.
I would have been less surprised if got weaker on other topics but conceptual framework and NFP?? never expected.

Now some people said that I should focus more on studying all Journal entries for SIMS and spend more time on Ninja MCQs.

So I am going to use Ninja MCQ for my 3rd try.
What are your thoughts? (No more Bisks)

And when you use Ninja MCQs I see there are two study sections
1.MCQ(you can choose topics as well) 2.Custom+Sims.

Both of them provide % how can you get your passing trend % ?

    Thanks,

You have to be honest with yourself. How well do you know how to manipulate T-accts and how they relate?

It isn't enough to simply memorize. If someone tells you about a given transaction, can you picture the jrnl entry?

Until I passed FAR the first time, I didnt. I actually found a free Coursera class via UPenn to set me straight.

In short, be honest with what you don't know. Relearn those subjects. Take MCQs in those areas. Then do groups of 2O MCQs.

Most of all, start over. You don't have a 73. You have a 0. Good luck!

@Mike030882 Do you remember the course name? I failed FAR and I feel like I memorized JE instead of truly understanding them.

    REG 69, 73, 80 (lost credit), 80!

    FAR 62, 69, 72, 79!

    AUD 71, 84!

    BEC 64, 71, 82!

    Done!

    REG: 69, 73, 80!
    FAR: 62
    BEC: TBD
    AUD: TBD

Ditto the second poster, he's right. FAR is about understanding the topic, you can memorize all the journal entries but you need to know how it all comes together at the end and which financial statement it affects.

And it's true. You're studying again for a 75, not 2 points. Also, little tip: when you start doing MCQs again, do journal entries or picture the journal entry for that particular problem. By the end of it, you should have a good grasp of journal entries.

Just like @hasy mentioned. When they say you are weak on SIMS in FAR, it is another way of saying you are weak on JEs. I recommend you to start with that. Remember that everything you have learned from FAR, can be turned into JEs. So make sure all you know can be translated into JEs.

This is the UPenn class: https://www.coursera.org/learn/wharton-accounting. He has excellent videos, gives quizzes. He even answers questions (tho not in realtime, of course). Sorry, Jeff, but this is THE best representation of accounting BASICS.

Yes. But, I chose the free option.

There is one where you can a certificate that verifies your identity. At this point in out career path, it wouldn't make any sense.

I'm not sure if you need a REG refresher, but I found this site invaluable: https://tax.cchgroup.com/downloads/files/contemporary-tax-practice/Module4/Topic3/B-Corporate-Alternative-Minimum-Tax-Computations.asp I needed that one because I only took one tax course. I'm attempting a career change from Print Journalism (BA) & paralegal background to Accounting. So, I especially needed some additional guidance. I found that site just googling “Corporate AMT.”

I honestly think any “name brand” CPA course can be used to pass.

It comes down to the individual. I see many candidates fail and the first thing they do is look for something different or a supplement.

It's not an IQ test. It's really a discipline test. You have to sacrifice to pass. Dive into that book page by page and make your own notes. Make your life hell and you WILL pass.
