Anxiety: We Are Not Saving Lives

I feel compelled to post this based on recent events. The intent is to help us keep our anxiety in context and in check and not marginalize the incredible effort and sacrifice we make.

On the night before the score release, there was a family emergency where a close relative went into emergency surgery at 11pm. This person has been healthy and energetic throughout their life. This was a royal shock. While the days and moments up to that “text” – my focus was on the exam, at that moment, the importance of the exams and the results went to negligible, barely detectable.

We all have our crosses to bear and statistically speaking, some of us in one way or another are fighting fights that make the CPA pursuit seem like less of a monster than it is.

For everybody fighting, keep it up. But if it’s at the point of eating any of us alive, remember that there are more important things and we will win this at some point.

I hope this is taken in the context intended but it may be more of a Freudian vent than anything else.
