i'm getting confused now.
they don't answer the phone and the website directs us to email for a request an extension.
so, i emailed and received automated email reply saying,
Thank you for contacting the CBA office. We remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic and are dedicated to providing you the great customer service we strive to give you each and every day.
Please know that our board website at http://www.dca.ca.gov/cba has the most recent program information. We will be keeping that site updated and it is your best resource for staying current on program information. If you continue to have questions after reviewing that site, please email us back so that we can answer your questions.
i know NASBA recommended all state boards to extend for NTS and credit expiring
Should i just resend since they said email back after reviewing CBA website (which asked us to send request… what?!) ?
anyone who contacted CBA and experienced same or different responses from them??March 23, 2020 at 8:04 pm #2967791
Received a very strange response from Maine Board of Accountancy. I wanted credit extension for REG and all they told me was to contact PROMETRIC? Im like they only provide testing and not extend credits so I sent them a second email and ever since I haven't heard from them. This is absolutely a difficult time for me and other candidates as wellMarch 23, 2020 at 8:09 pm #2967797
huh…that is really strange…
i wish at least they answer the phone callMarch 23, 2020 at 9:51 pm #2967872
They should just extend all the credits, it shouldn't be that hard for board to make this decision. We lost one valuable testing month, this should be a no brainer..March 24, 2020 at 1:55 pm #2968319
I'm from CA too. I emailed them last Monday after the SIP order and it took them 2 days to come back with the same automated response that you received. I emailed firstname.lastname@example.org the second time after talking to someone on the phone asking about my credit extension. The first time I emailed examinfoMarch 24, 2020 at 2:28 pm #2968346March 24, 2020 at 3:31 pm #2968397
@asdf Just got an email now. They want me to type up a request, sign it and scan it. Did you get any kind of response?March 24, 2020 at 4:06 pm #2968412
no, i sent an email only to examinfo.
i think i should also try renewalinfo email
did you basically/simply say, we lost a month due to covid19 and need credit extension on your email to renewalinfo?
(sorry for bothering you so much @Kay )March 24, 2020 at 4:31 pm #2968433
@asdf yes, basically something like that. I have family that is more high-risk so I've been taking care of them and their business, as well as update this forum to see if anyone has any news, as well as update local news, AS WELL as see if there's any news on Twitter from the Board. A lot of divided attention to anticipate if CA is kind enough to just automatically extend everyone's 18 mo credit =P
Yes, email renewalinfo, at least you'll get a nonautomated response. But then the formal letter of request will be sent to examinfo anyway so we'll see if this will be a continuation of email tagMarch 24, 2020 at 5:56 pm #2968490
i just sent email to renewalinfo
and immediately received same auto reply.. ha….March 24, 2020 at 7:21 pm #2968535RadezParticipant
I had a problem with the responsiveness of the MA board of accountancy a couple of years ago with respect to my licensure. I got some mileage out of contacting the state's society of CPAs. The MA Society for CPAs has an Academic/Career Development office, and a contact there was able to liase with the board and get a response. Judge the urgency of your respective situations, but the CPA professional association may be a more responsive avenue to getting a response or clarification from the board itself.
Good luck.March 24, 2020 at 8:42 pm #2968565
Thank you Radez, I will try contacting them instead!March 26, 2020 at 7:44 pm #2969627
Could you provide me with emails of MA board of accountancy and MA society for CPAs? Its been a week and i havent heard from MA society for CPAs. Did i send to the wrong address? I dont knowApril 9, 2020 at 1:35 am #2977751CPA2beParticipant
Did any of you guys get an extension of credit from California Board for the credits expiring between April- June?April 9, 2020 at 12:32 pm #2977943
@CPA2be I applied for an extension for my REG exam expiring 10/17/2020 three weeks ago and I've sent a follow up email once a week since. They said they are “working very hard” to process my request. I basically wrote a business memo along with a doctor's note requesting for an extension. I am in Santa Clara County and I don't think my testing centers within a 2 hr drive will open till May 3.
I get the same automated response below. Do your exams expire between April and June? Have you seen an extension for your credit in the CBA portal?
Thank you for contacting the California Board of Accountancy (CBA). The CBA will be working with NASBA to accommodate requests to applicants as it relates to extensions for examination-related matters.
Prometric Test Center Closures
Prometric has closed its test centers in the United States and Canada, effective March 18, 2020 and anticipate re-opening April 16, 2020.
Notice to Schedule (NTS) Extensions
CPA Exam candidates with a NTS expiring between April 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020, will be extended to September 30, 2020.
CPA Exam Credit Extensions
CPA Exam candidates with one or more CPA Exam credits that will expire on or before June 30, 2020, will be granted a 90-day extension of the credit(s) through September 30, 2020.
There is no need to contact the Board at this time.
Please continue to visit the CBA’s website at http://www.cba.ca.gov for the most recent information available. If you still require assistance after reviewing the website, please email us back so that we can answer your questions.
Thank you for your patience at this time and please know that we will work to process your request as quickly as possible.
