I specifically want to know if you did after becoming a CPA.
I have been in public for three years. I just scheduled an interview with a somewhat smaller bank for an Accountant position for tomorrow. The job posting stated that a CPA is strongly preferred. Based on the description, I would be doing bank Recs, calculating/maintaining bank liquidity, in charge of GL, etc.
For anyone who’s held a similar position, would you mind sharing what your salary was? I want to somewhat have an idea in case they ask tomorrow during my interview.

I did. Don't do it. I was hired when I still had 1 or 2 sections left to pass. Received not so much as an “atta boy” after getting CPA. My boss was a horrible human being though, I do not miss her.

In mid-Missouri, got hired at a whopping $43k. Decent sized bank holding company, about $9-13 billion in assets. I did all kinds of entries, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, 5 Call Reports every quarter, any IT-related acctg work. After almost 4 years they offered me 10% raise mid-year just to stay there…I'm making slightly more than that raise in public acctg now. A whole lot more than that raise with tax season bonus!

Keep in mind that was at biggest bank holding company around here, consistently on Forbes' top 25 banks in the country for better part of a decade. If you're looking at a small, regional bank, be prepared for about $40-50k, $60k if you're extremely lucky. Extremely lucky and being hired as a Controller. Unfortunately, I'm 100% serious. Depending on where you live of course, I've only mid-Missouri frame of reference. Pay's below national average here, but hope that helps at least a little.
