Are AUD questions really that difficult?

So I’m studying strictly with Roger. I watched the lectures, read the book and did the homework in the book. Easy peezy. Now I’m on to the online MCQs and they are significantly more difficult than the MCQs in the book. Not only that, but a good portion of the material isn’t even covered in the text book. I was feeling kind of confident before I got into the software MCQs.

Anyone else feel that way when they studied for AUD (regardless of the review course that they used)? I was feeling ok a few days ago, but not any more.

Just took AUD today and honestly No. The questions were straightforward. I would say focus on chaper 1 & 2. Didn't have any transaction cycle questions.

That's good to hear because I'm feeling incredibly defeated. I have no audit experience but I thought that I was starting to get it and was doing very well on the text book homework. But the online MCQs are killing me. I'm lucky if I get 40% right. They are all very long and wordy, and in my opinion very subjective.

I sum up a typical AUD MCQ as follows: you can easily eliminate two of the wrong answers, but you might as well flip a coin after that to decide on the correct answer. In Becker, AUD MCQ answer explanations continually would use language like “this is the best answer”. I found AUD questions to be the trickiest.

I feel your pain with the difference between the study materials and the MCQs. I ended up canceling Roger because I was scared the gimmicks wouldn't prepare me well for the exams. In the end, I ended up going with Wiley CPAexcel.

There is still some difference between the study materials and the MCQs, so the best bet is to view the MCQs themselves as study material.

Answer the questions to the best of your ability and use the feedback as additional information for future MCQs. I hope this makes sense.

I agree with iH8Georgia. Most of these CPA review courses are set up so that you learn half the material from the book/lecture and half from reading the multiple choice questions' explanations. Different from school and unsettling at first but you kind of get used to it.
