Are the AICPA released questions harder in nature?

I was just reading over an answer explanation and it said “NOTE that this question is very detailed and quite confusing in parts. We suspect that it will be rare for something of this nature to appear frequently on the CPA Exam (which is likely a reason they released the question).”

This makes me feel somewhat better because I gave 110% effort on the question and still got it wrong. On top of that, I looked over some AICPA review questions earlier today and figured I was completely doomed if I saw even a third of those questions on the exam. Are released questions usually harder in nature?

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 81
    FAR - 81
    REG - 77
    This too shall pass...

A few years ago when the released questions came out there was a Medium section, and a hard section, indicating how difficult each section of questions was.
I would get pretty much all of the medium difficulty questions correct with little difficulty, but the harder questions I would end up narrowing it down to 2 options, and then it was about 50/50 from there. So you'll get a mixed bag. Go for the easy points, eliminate the incorrect answers on the other, and make your best educated guess of the remaining options. Smart test taking is crucial!
