AUD – Easy isn't the right word but…

Anyone else leave AUD for their last or second to last exam and feel like the prep is much easier than the other exams? Is Roger’s prep just too easy and I am missing a huge part? Maybe because it’s the only exam where we are tested almost exclusively on just auditing? Here is where I am at:
    – 16 days out
    – 1,000 question completed
    – Roger + Ninja MCQ
    – 82%

I expect to have about 2200 – 2500 MCQs complete by the time test day arrives, which I’ve done for my other parts.

When I took FAR, REG, and BEC nothing felt easy. The volume of information alone was hard, not to mention the calculations and rules. There were things I knew and there were things I didn’t that I ended up practicing over and over. Come exam day I felt prepared and so far have found success.

But now I am on AUD and I feel like “This is it?”. Anyone else feel like that? I’ve poured through the blueprints, watched the videos, read some posts on here, and I feel like Billy May’s is going to pop out and say “But wait… There’s more!”.

Anyone have success with Roger or can compare the level of difficulty or complexity on the exam to the Ninja or Roger MCQs and Tasks?

I used Roger and felt the exact same way, but maybe that's because I'm an auditor. I took AUD as my last exam. It may be because it's less heavy on calculation and more so of memorization/theory.

    Roger and Ninja all day!!

All of these exams felt like jokes… The exam needs to be overhauled to make the CPA designation mean something.

@mschnei Im glad it was so easy for u. Looking at these forums and at scores, its obvious it is not easy most people. Accounting majors have 50% grad rates on average. Most people change majors.

Making comments like that is not helpful and encouraging to lots of people who already feel dumb. I know Im smart, but I look at my 74 and question everything bout me.
Please remember: u r on a forum for people who are needing encouragement and community. We work, have families, and commitments. Please don't under value that.
I wish the best in everything u do.

I hope you're right! I saved AUD for last. BEC wasn't too bad, but it was so all over the place and broad I wasn't sure what the expect. FAR and REG are just SO much information that I can't bear to even think about having to study that much again for AUD.

I only have industry experience, so I've never worked in tax or audit. I really liked tax classes in college and thought auditing was extremely boring. But on the flip side, tax classes were definitely harder than auditing classes. I'm hoping the same is true for the CPA!

Is there anyone who has never been an auditor who felt AUD was “easy” (comparatively speaking)?

@Allie530, I have zero audit experience and my one college audit class was a joke. I felt AUD was very easy, I used Roger for prep and thought it was his best/strongest section. I finished the exam with nearly two hours left, and passed with my highest section score of the four.

Maybe it was because the exam really felt like a single topic and not five or six classes of material combined, like BEC or FAR felt.

That's where I am at too. I just have industry experience and like you said the audit class in school was nothing like I thought it would be. So much like that class, so far this prep has been the same. I'm loading up 100 questions in Ninja and averaging 91% on each of them. I printed out every example of every type report and practiced typing them out. I won't know how all this translates over to the test but comparing it to FAR which I took in May, night and day different.

I think some people are more naturally disposed to concepts and mastering a few makes the rest somewhat logical. I'm the opposite in that I'm more naturally disposed to problem solving and FAR and BEC were much easier for me personally.

IMO I felt like AUD is pretty much the section you get it or you don't and will struggle to pass it. It's pretty much conceptual and I personally felt like the process of elimination is probably the best way of answering the mcq and strongest out of the 4 sections because there is no calculation.

That sounds about right. When I took BEC I left myself 40 minutes to do the written and I was scrambling. FAR took me the entire time as well. REG I had plenty of time to go over everything so hopefully you're right about AUD.

I have taken BEC and AUD so far (waiting on my AUD score) and AUD was so much easier to study for than BEC..and right now, I miss AUD as I study for REG…. Conceptually I think it's a lot easier to get. The different reports are tough though, and if I did fail, it's because of those:)

I felt the exact same way OP and I was worried that I was getting “sand bagged” by Gleim and Ninja and that I was going to get crushed on exam day….My score speaks for itself….and I have no audit experience fwiw

I know my scores don't necessarily reflect it but I am about halfway through review of REG and I can say AUD is the only section thus far that I haven't cried during. With FAR and REG, there's a lot of areas I struggled with, felt hopeless, and would just sit down and cry. AUD is like a breath of fresh air. It's not necessarily easy per se, but I would definitely say it is easier than FAR and REG. A lot of the information is objective which is the most difficult part. But after taking FAR and now getting through REG (which seems just as hard as FAR, at least the tax section), I'd say enjoy the time you have with AUD. It's a little break from the other sections if you ask me.

@delbuge ,AUD is one of the section where you may get illusion that you are well prepared. You can check this forum many people struggled with AUD with 72-74.Some one mentioned it is just one subject ,not really it has two or sprinkles of FAR.Since you have already done FAR so that part is covered.
Be cautious with AUD. Since you are doing Ninja MCQ that sounds good ,it would bump up your score for minimum 10.

Auditing was not easy for me as compared to the other sections. I believe it is because I need actual solving instead of hypothetical. It felt like a vocabulary test that I just wasn't getting. Thank goodness I passed on the first attempt because I don't know how I could've studied differently.
