    I’ve never done thought to do this before, so i need a little help: what info can/should i write down real quickly to help me before i start the exam? Have it in 1 week

    should i write down all the mnemonics (mine are from Becker)? TIP PIE ACDO (or CDOG if you’re a true ninja); CRIME for I/C components, etc, etc.

    what mnemonics are best to write down & what other stuff would you suggest? I’m going to give it a shot regardless of whether i have scratch paper or white board next week

    I think I would, I mean right at the start of A4, Tim does a pretty good job of summarizing everything up to that point. I would definitely use most of that info, if possible!

    Becker Self-Study

    B -- 84 (4/1/13)
    A -- 97 (1/29/13)
    R -- 92 (11/28/12)
    F -- 90 (10/30/12)

    Wouldn't the new “noteboards” make it more difficult to write down memorized formulas/mnemonics???

    – dry erase marker can smudge easily

    – writing would have to be thicker/bolder

    The new boards are no problem at all.

    Mine did not smudge, and the marker is basically a felt pen. Think Sharpie pen –

    I put my data dump down and referred to it throughout the exam. Very helpful!

    Good Luck today Gsnyder!

    I am a visual learner, so this is all memorized but putting it down on a white board brings back memories of things while I studied.

    GAAP – Qualified or Adverse (no change to scope paragraph, no S in GAAP)

    GAAS – Qualified or Disclaimer (change to scope paragraph, S in GAAS)

    CPACP-CARE-CURV – Management Assertions (in order, Transactions or IS items, Account balances, or BS, and then disclosure; this helps me figure out which assertion goes to what they are asking about, is it related to the balance sheet or income statement or disclosures etc)

    IC audit procedures – IRON

    Evidence audit procedures – TRACE

    AR = IRxCRxDR

    IRxCR = ROMM

    Make a triangle and mark each point with Authorization, Custody, and Record Keeping; each point of the triangle cannot share duties with the other to have proper segregation of duties

    Sig deficiency < Material Weakness

    Ratios

    Current ratio = CA/CL

    Quick ration = Liquid assets / CL

    I only do these things on my troubled area's, so you may not need all of these. Also I am not going to use all of these because most of this I have memorized now, but some I need to look at during testing. I never quite understood people calling it a brain dump? If you remember it, then its already in your memory so how would it be cheating? Its just a visualization of what is in your head.

    I don't think anyone is implying that it's cheating. It's called a data/brain dump because you have all this information crammed in your head and you dump it on the scrap paper.

    That way you can just refer to your scrap paper (whiteboard) instead of trying to sort through your thoughts or getting easily mixed up.
