AUD yesterday & finished with 40mins left

So yesterday I took AUD. I was completing the MCQ ahead of schedule even after going back through to double check my answers. Once I got to the SIMs I had approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes left. I thought the SIMs were easy to medium difficulty and completed them all with 50 minutes remaining. I went back through and double checked my answers and ended up submitting the testlet with 40 minutes left on the clock.

I’ve taken BEC & REG and used every last second on those exams so I was very confused once I finished and realized I had so much time left. I don’t know how to feel about this, is this a good thing or did I rush myself? Has anyone else passed leaving so much time on the clock?

Also, I felt like maybe the second MCQ testlet was a little more difficult but not as noticeable with the other 2 exams I’ve taken thus far. I’m really nervous.

    AUD - 90

    BEC - 77

    FAR - 89

    REG - 90

I've always been a fast test taker and finished all of my exams with 45 – 90 minutes left on the clock and passed 4 out of 5.

I always leave 30-40 minutes left on the clock. Depends on how well you know the material, how many calculations there are, how quickly you read, etc.

Seems like lots of people finish AUD early; I had close to 2 hours left when I walked out the door.
Not so for REG, though – I submitted the exam with about 2 seconds left. I felt like AUD should have been the three hour exam and REG should be allowed four.

I finished REG with 1 hour left. I got an 82. I wouldn't worry too much about finishing early.

I finished AUD with about 30 mins left. REG with about 15, and BEC/FAR I only had a few mins left. Kinda depends on how much time you allocate to double checking things, or if you get hit with a crazy hard SIM that might take you a little longer than expected

Some people like to finish tests before everyone else does, it's an ego thing. I'm sure if I have to take these exams multiple times, I will eventually start finishing them with time left on the clock. Yeah, if you get a very easy form of the test, of course you're gonna finish with time to spare. In my experience though, most of the people who finished exams early were not the best/brightest students in the class!

OP, your experience sounds similar to mine – don't worry. AUD played with my head after the fact, because I finished with over an hour to spare and I was afraid I had missed something, but I passed. I'm sure you did too. You likely finished quickly because you knew the material very well.

Crazyleon, I don't agree with you at all. Some people may get an ego trip by finishing quickly, but I think that's few and far between. Some people are just fast test takers. I was a fast test taker in college and finished every CPA exam with an hour to spare at least. I think the reason why I'm fast is because the more time I take, the higher the likelihood that I will second guess myself out of right answers.

I finished Audit with over an hour left and I am pretty confident I did well. The thing about audit is there are not a lot of calculations or multiple step MC choice questions. As such if you know the answer you can easily answer those questions in less than 30 seconds. It's like for sports fans if there was a question about What team plays it homes games @ Soldier Field, most could answer in seconds. Same with Audit. A lot of questions if you know it, you know it with nothing to think or dwell upon.

So I wouldn't be worried about how soon you finished the exam.

Had an hour left for AUD. Don't worry. AUD has little to no calculations so don't worry about it.

@ OP, your test yesterday was the new AUD format correct? Is there anything you can tell us about your experience?

I took the AUD exam on February 27 and finished 1 hour and 45 minutes early, and passed. I was really worried about it thinking I didn't get a hard enough exam to pass since I finished so early, but I had nothing to worry about. I think it has more to do with your personal test taking style. I finished all of my exams with time to spare. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I finished AUD early too!! I had 2 1/2 hours left when I finished all the MC testlets. I took about an hour in SIMS because I thought they were ridiculously hard – harder than FAR or REG. Possibly because I only practiced the Sims once for AUD as opposed to 2-3 times for FAR & REG….hopefully I passed! This is my last one!!

    FAR – 91
