I took the exam today. It was not what I expected. This is the second time I took this and I thought Q4 2017 exam was a lot easier and less subjective. Audit can be a subjective topic. I feel like you either know it or you don’t. Even the multiple choice was tricky and the sim was very ambiguous and subjective. When I took the MC, I felt like I could eliminate two answer choices but was still left with the other two trying to figure out which one was right. For the sim, I was making educational guesses that I hope were right. Anyone took the exam this quarter and felt the same but ended it up doing well?

I took AUD today too. I felt like I did well on the MCQ but there were a few that threw me off, perhaps pre test questions. The SIMS were pretty tough. I think I messed up the research question.. Hope that isnt a deal breaker..

This was my first time taking the test under the new method. The SIMs were long and I was worried I wouldnt have enough time, but ended with 15 mins left over.

Anyone else feel like they did bad on the SIMs under the new grading and still passed? Specifically knowing the messed up the 1 research question they got?

@JLP i have similar experience like yours. I felt pretty good on MCQs. My first testlet was ok and second testlet was difficult. However on sims,i make educated guess. Out of 8, i totally bomb 1 sim and other 7 were 50-50. I did get the Research right though. I had 2 min left on the clock.

My experience was similar to the above. I think I crushed the mcq and I got the research correct, but the sims were brutal. I felt like some of them had more to do with FAR than AUD. I think I got around 50-75% on most of the sims, maybe better on one or two. I hope I pass this time around because I really don’t want to look at that material again. It’d be nic to just have FAR left.

Well what can we do…now we gotta wait PATIENTLY for next week to see scores…hopefully we all hear some good news. I did feel like Sims were more far related as well….now I don't know if I should continue studying for audit or just wait until next week. What will u guys do?

I retake AUD tomorrow! I feel pretty good about it…just hope the sims aren't too ridiculous. Not studying at all tonight and just going to glance over ninja notes tomorrow morning…

Totally relate!

I can honestly say that when I took AUD that I thought after the MCQs I was performing in the 90s. Then came the SIMS. They just about sunk me.

I literally kept working the research question until I found exact wording and finished with like 4 minutes to spare. Not everyone realizes the research question is a MASSIVE part of the overall score (about 1/7 of 50%…or a little over 7% total)

Ended up getting an 83 after I butchered the SIMS…miss that research question and it's close…probably a pass, but MUCH closer.

Felt like I only had a chance because of the research question.

Hi all,

Took AUD this morning. The questions and sims were in line with Becker material and AICPA sample questions. I know i had roughly 3 “test” questions. I did notice that the multiple choice questions for the second teslet were a bit harder and more “wordy” compared to the first testlet. The multiple choice questions i did in about 1.5 hours. That left me with 2.5 to complete sims. Oh the dreaded SIMS… they were wordy and filled with so much support to review. I only had one research questions. My note… practice, practice, practer on your review program and also complete the AICPA sample test. It will help!… On a side note.. finished the test with 1 hour to spare.. not sure if that was a good thing (i knew my stuff) or terrible thing (i rushed through the exam)… Hopefully its the first one…

It was pretty good – smashed on the mcqs! Sims were kind of weird…I felt fine on them the first 2 testlets but the 3rd not as much. Research question I know I got right. I just hope it was enough to get those other 2 points to pass!

I had a very similar experience to everyone else. MC was easy but a couple of the SIMS were brutal. Wish I had already taken FAR and was more familiar with adjusting journal entries.

Took AUD today. Hopefully, I did well (fingers crossed). I used only Ninja material to study.

Here are my thoughts:

Overall, I believe that time management is key! I rushed through MCQ (about 35 min for the first and second testlets). The extra time gave me a bit of a cushion with SIM questions. I finished the test 11 minutes before the clock ran out. I highly recommend for anyone studying for AUD to spend serious time on SIMS in their review course.

Also, I am contemplating to contact the AICPA Exams Team. One of the questions was not clear on instructions, at all! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to fill out the cell or leave it blank if it was correct. I read and reread the instructions during the test but couldn't figure out exactly what the test wanted me to do.

Took AUD today and I am left feeling so weird compared to usual. It felt easy. I had an hour left when I submitted. So now I'm convinced I failed. There were plenty of documents in the SIMs but I felt like it was very easy to identify what was important, what to do with it, etc. So either the fact that I am an auditor helped just that much or I just bombed the hell out of it. And I am very happy I just took FAR in December before Audit.

The other exams – BEC I felt I could pass or fail and I wouldn't be shocked at either result. REG and FAR, was convinced the SIMs were going to crush me and I'd fail. This one – the SIMs felt easier than work by a long shot. I was getting higher in SIMs in Becker all the way through as well.

But I can't shake that stupid mantra you hear over and over. If you feel like you passed, you probably failed. If you feel like you failed, you probably passed. Ugh. If I pass, I'm done.

Let the waiting commence!
