BEC exam strategy

    I’m taking BEC (first exam) this upcoming Monday (ahhhhh!).

    For exam strategy, I was thinking of answering all conceptual MCQ first, and then go back to do calculation questions for each testlet. Any thoughts/opinions on this? Has anyone tried this?

    I’ve been doing this with my Becker homework/progress tests and seem to be pretty OK with it. Really started practicing this way only so I could do questions on my 20-30 minute train commute and noticed it helps drill concepts before doing calculations (can’t do calculation questions while commuting). However, it does take a bit of time to sift back through the questions to be sure I don’t miss any. Honestly, the calculation questions will sometimes frustrate me from trying to figure it out, deciding to skip it and go back..ultimately wasting time/energy from thinking! I am not and never was a good test taker.

    Would appreciate any of your thoughts on this or suggestions for mental strategy.

    Good luck on your upcoming test! I haven't taken it yet (1/21!) but I think I am probably going to do all the ones I know, regardless of whether they are calcs or not and then possibly flag the ones that might be time-consuming or difficult…That's how I used to do my online tests when I took classes… I do get your point about doing conceptual HW questions on the train-I did the same! Hard to do calcs in your lap!
