    Hi all,
I Feel so dumb that I failed BEC twice in a row. Everybody said this is the easiest part of the CPA exams but not for me.
My FAR score is expired since I failed BEC and here is what I have done.
First attempt: I watched Roger’s lectures and solved 90% of the questions including SIMs and I got 74. I did not have time to study Internal control and the exam report said it was my weakness area.
Second attempt: I re-solved all Roger’s questions without watchig the lectures and I got 67. I had so many calculation questions which I did not even study so hard. Moreover, I did not have time to finish Sims and WC. I had only 20 mins to solve WC. I know I failed the time management. I think the main reason for fail is that I was overconfident on MCQs. I kinda memorized all the questions from Roger so the trend score was not real I guess.
I am thinking to subscribe a test bank(s) from Wiley, Ninja, or/and Gleim. Can anyone recommend me what to subscribe?
I have spent so much money and time for these stupid exams and have to re-take FAR! Please help me!!

@Chloe. I got a 71 the first time I took BEC. My plan of action for the retake was to answer about 100 NINJA mcqs a day for 30 days, no sims at all, that's a waste of time in my opinion. I also re-wrote my notes into a beautiful 2 page cheat sheet with important formulas and concepts that I learned from the mcqs. Just got my score an 82, so this method worked for me at least.

    AUD Score  74 , 73 , 68 , 78

    BEC Score    71 , 82

    FAR Score   60 , 76

    REG Score   61, 82

    Hey Pendragon87,
Do you think solving Ninja MCQs is enough to pass BEC? I am pretty paranoid since I failed it twice and wasted my money (I am in Canada so Paying USD in CAD is worse…) If you watched any lectures, what did you subscribe?
I am really frustrated and want to pass it next time!!!
    Thanks!

I think BEC penalizes a slower pace more so than the other exams because of how long it takes to complete the written responses at the end. Here's what I would do in your situation:

Do practice sets with a test bank like Ninja or Wiley. Get maybe 200 questions under your belt, pacing at 1:30 per question (if you maintain that pace on the exam, you will have more than 2 hours left for the SIMS and written response).

Once you have the 200 questions completed, use the analytical tools to find out where you are weakest and go back to the book/lectures and study like hell in those areas.

Continue with your practice sets with new questions. When you are consistently getting 80%+, you are ready.

I agree with Pendragon87. I failed BEC twice as well and it was my last exam. I think I was taking it easy because it was suppose to be the easiest one, but I disagree. Anyway I only used Ninja MCQs for the most part but I went through all of the questions at least twice. hope you get it next time!

I failed BEC twice as well and just took it a third time. I received a 71 and a 74 using only fast forward academy lectures, making my own notes, and doing all of the 2,000+ MCQ. I switched to Ninja for my third attempt and completed all of the MCQs, took notes, rewrote notes, read the notes for several weeks, and listened to audio on my commute to and from work. Once I went through all of the MCQ (60-90 per day, 120-150 per day on weekends) I did more on my weak areas. Once I felt comfortable I did sets of 30 over all the material. This method worked for REG, which was the only section I passed on my first attempt. Praying for a passing score on the 2/26 release.

You almost certainly know the information well enough to pass the test. If I were you, I would concentrate on the time management portion. Have enough Self restraint to admit that you don't know the answer to a question and move on, rather than wasting time working on a problem that are never going to get right anyway. Take your best guess and move forward. Save your time for the content that you know well.

@chloe I watched all of Roger's lecture videos. He is really good but honestly I think 80% of the knowledge I get from doing around 100mcqs a day, you learn more from getting 40s and 50s on quizzes than watching a lecture. The lectures are useful to get you started but the mcqs are what really prepare you for the exam. I did Roger and Ninja questions, always good to do it in 2 different softwares so you don't get too comfortable with one set of questions.
