BEC harder than FAR??

    I am currently studying for BEC, which is hopefully my last exam. I just started B2 on Becker and noticing the BEC MCQ to be insanely long and hard. I have taken FAR, AUD, and REG and never struggled with the MCQ during my learning and review phase. It seems like BEC for Becker have stepped it up on the level of difficulty for the MCQ. These questions are way longer than the ones i saw for FAR or even REG. Also, a good portion of the MCQ content is not mentioned in the book at all.

    Just wanted to know if anyone else feels the same way, and have the MCQ for the new BEC version been easier or harder than the MCQ becker has? The lectures are insanely long (Average of 1 hour) and then the MCQ take forever since they have paragraphs and paragraphs of info.

    This is section so far seems harder than FAR. FAR was not bad, but everything clicked . BEC is just everywhere and its hard to grasp on material such as Finance, when you haven’t seen it for a while.

    Any advice or feedback would be great.

    I feel the same way. I'm using Becker and I take BEC on Nov 30. I got through all of the chapters and am in the reviewing phase now. Its crazy how a lot of the mcqs were not covered in the readings. It is soooo frustrating.

    Feel like I need to be a math major for their expectations. The test wasn't as hard as mcq pre change though. I'm so lost and overwhelmed.

    No way. FAR covers and insane amount of material compared to BEC.

    However, I agree 100% that some of the long winded calculations in Becker were probably harder than topics covered in FAR. But, don’t get too caught up in the really long calculations. Know what you need to know and review the long answer, then move on.

    Goodluck and keep grinding it out my friend!!!

    Agree x1000! I thought FAR was so much easier in terms of my understanding of the material, but I also do most of it on a daily basis at work. I am really struggling with this section, and I find it hard to get in the right mindset to study since the questions are so crazy long.

    @ANA

    I am planning on taking it in Q1 of 2018. I was suppose to take it before Q4 ends But, my schedule didn't work out. Becker has been good for AUD, FAR, REG. For BEC Becker has lost it. Never seen this hard and long of the mcq in FAR at all.

    @JENNIFER

    I 100% agree with you. FAR wasn't bad at all, Becker has made BEC crazy hard. Idk how I'm going to get thru this.

    what can we do to get through Becker 2-4? I've never been so hopeless and lost with the material before.

    Just remember you guys are probably overthinking some of the calculations for BEC MCQ’s. The MCQ’s will be 2-4 calculations on the exam. Not the 10 step ridiculous calculations Becker has you do. Know the important calculations and understand the remaining part of the answer. That’s my advice for what it’s worth. Although I was fortunate enough to take BEC before the changes, so you may want to talk with a new test taker.

    Goodluck and I’m sure it will all make sense!! If you passed FAR, I promise you can pass BEC if you work your butt off!!!

    Best of luck!!!

    Thanks for all of the great advice from everyone. I wouldn't say BEC is harder than FAR but it feels impossible since it doesn't relate to the work most of us do. Also, I have A LOT of trouble just memorizing information like ratios. The Econ, IT, COSO, and WC is where we should aim to pick up the most points since the rest has so many ratios that anything can be tested.

    I took BEC before they added SIMS, but there are still a handful of those crazy long MCQ in Becker that I couldn't do. Exam wasn't anything like it, so I wouldn't get hung up on these necessarily. I think BEC and FAR are the two hardest based on the amount of info. REG was hard because tax makes no sense, but these two are just a different animal.

    I found FAR to be much more difficult but I totally get what you mean.

    For BEC, you see random/odd questions pretty often while for other sections, you usually know which section to refer to.. and the question is fair (from your studies). I think the best way to approach BEC is to realize that it's ok to not know everything – try to gain a strong understanding in each area and use that to solve problems.

    Good luck!

    I've used Becker for all other sections (still waiting to hear back on AUD), but I agree with all that's been said above. Some MCQ solutions were several paragraphs long. I've gotten to the point of just skipping over them. I know that's bad, but there's just no way there's going to be that many long-winded questions on the test that take 5 minutes to calculate.

    But I'm also feeling overwhelmed. I did push my test back a month from December 8th to January 8th, so that helped calm me down, but I still feel overwhelmed.

    I'm starting B5 today and think I'll just try to grind out the last two chapters, then start a month long review.

    Took a week off for Thanksgiving so that I can study, but also enjoy the holiday some.

    Best of luck to everyone!!

    BEC - 83
    FAR - 79
    REG - 89
