BEC new exam experience

First of all, prometric center treats everyone like criminals. I understand the fact they are required to check us, but I don’t understand why are they always so nasty and disrespectful.

This was my BEC retake after receiving a 73. I was really calm and confident going in because I studied over 100 hours after receiving a 73,

So, I decide to begin my first testlet after dealing with prometric ladys attitude.

First testlet was hard, majority of the questions were not covered in Becker.

Second testlet was even harder, there was no way I could have prepared myself any better.

I started my third testlet. After staring at the screen for almost 10 minute, unsure about what is even being asked, I wanted to walk out. I couldn’t even guess them. I lost all my confidence. I decided to take the 15 minute break. I went out and the lady started yelling, “GO CLICK THE OPTION TO TAKE THE BREAK.” And then went through the security check once again after using the restroom.

The next testlet was fair, both questions required to know the subject thoroughly. I am sure I got most of the questions wrong. The WC were easy.

I hope someone else will have a better experience than I. I honestly could not prepare myself any better. The questions were so much harder than the last time I took it. The sims were just ridiculous.

Oh man, this is not the response I wanted to see!
That sucks about your testing center – the ladies at my Prometric are super nice and laid back, but I also test in the middle of a cornfield in northern Illinois lol.
The IT part sounds so frustrating. I'm almost positive that's why I failed in Q1 – there were so many random terms I've never seen in Ninja, Becker, OR Gleim.

I'm dreading the sims – how would you compare the Becker sims to actual? Are they even remotely close? I normally don't study the sims and instead try to really understand the book, but I'm trying to cover all bases with Becker this go around so I never have to take this again.

@rb Becker Sims were not even close to the actual. I would recommend you going over the AICPA sample questions. I think you are taking a better approach by understanding the book. There was absolutely no way I could have done any better by doing any of the sims on becker.
I am positive I failed this freaking exam and possibly will get much lower than a 73.

I hope you guys have a better experience with the exam so it can motivate me to retake.

Hopefully the OP realizes the agreement not to disclose details and doesn't email anybody privately. Also hopefully nutcracker values their privacy enough to remove their email from a very public webpage.

OP ,just curious what areas they tested on SIM ,very generic and I think Jeff okayed that.
Is its just all Calculations like Costing and Financial management or all areas including Economics and Business process type too e.g. In REG SIM covers only Tax not Business laws.

So let me get this straight. You left the room without clicking the option to take a break, and the prometric staff let you back in to fix that, and you think that was unfair? Sounds like you violated the rules and could have very easily not been let back in. I would thank them if I were you.

This Exam Process is brutal so keep your head up. I walked out of BEC on 3/10 and was almost positive I failed, but passed with an 87. Having hard testlets is a good thing, but can be very frustrating. Stay strong.

Agree with what cpa4928 said, a hard exam while painfully brutal does not mean you failed the exam! you may be pleasantly surprised.

Ok Sorry for asking to email OP.

I emailed my State board today about the concerns about the BEC section most people have here. They emailed me back saying I have to contact the AICPA directly. I spoke to the customer care person in AICPA, he has taken down my email and said he will forward the concerns to the examination board of AICPA and email me back whenever he gets a reply. I am not going to leave this till I get an answer mainly about the IT questions they are asking from nowhere also the analysis questions in the TBS. will post with updates. Thanks.

Too many moral police on this forum. How come exam board allow Becker's and others review Materials to stress on their materials Pass Keys or questions which are so similar to actual exam ?Many review materials claim their mock test and Simulations are close to actual exam question ,how they can ?
NASBA should ban all review materials because they give enough hints about the questions of exam. Many people have written in this forum they have studied Becker's and questions in exam were very similar to Becker's home work that means some candidates tell secretly the questions to these review wizards and we should bring this gross ethical violations to attention of AICPA ethical committee.
My thesis:No one is disclosing questions here on this forum so they are not violating ethics.People are interpreting the disclosures in most narrow n conservative way. You can't pass by studying few chapters based on hints like Govt is heavily tested or no Business combination questions were asked. You can't pass without thoroughly preparing for exam.No one can pass the exam with these hints.
Disclaimer : I am neither interested nor wish any one on forum to violate non disclosure rules.i want just healthy and constructive discussion like I have already passed BEC but asking questions about BEC SIM.

    @WannaFree – completely agreed.

OP – bear in mind that you are in on the first run of the new exam format. I think they're going to be more lenient on BEC since it's the one that has undergone the most changes.
The standard for passing will have to be lowered or else the pass rates are going to drop – not sure if they want that to happen or not…I think they do actually. Don't sweat it though.
You may very well have passed, you have absolutely no way of knowing until you get your score. Move on to your next section now!

Hey – I'm not trying to be the moral police. What you post or say away from this site is between you, the AICPA, and your state board. The fewer posts I have to edit, the better…that's all.
