I think the more important topic at hand is how are you studying for BEC? Becker is a really valuable tool for this exam and if you are following the study guidelines as they are laid out to you, you should have a very good chance at passing.

    A- Pass
    R- Pass
    F- Pass

    B 10/29/16
    A 10/1/16

    Niki,

BEC was a beast for me. 2-74's back to back with a final pass of 81 a couple weeks back.

What got me over the hump (7 pts) was I bought the ninja audio and played it as I slept in continuous mode (8 hours). I also did about 200 MCQs from Ninja which is not much.

Also what is odd I could not pass under the old version without SIMS but did with the new version with SIMS. Please review the AICPA website and do the SIMS- it help me.

54 means significant holes in your understanding of material. Are you memorizing MCQs? BEC is something you need to know inside out. THere is no BS this exam or any of the others

Yes, i'm using becker software since march 2016 and now i'm having no more access to my software since it got expired. After giving bec for two times( in 2016) n getting 54 same score i've decided to give FAR subject. I got 58 in FAR, december 2016. There after i had a break of 3 months due to my visit to india. After coming back, i started preparing according to the new syllabus pattern for FAR and gave exam in may and got 47, also gave my 3rd time BEC in august and got 54 ( same score as the last two attempts).
I was using becker software for lectures, MCQ's and simulations. And also i bought wiley cpa guide textbook for FAR and BEC subjects for my previous two exams(FAR & BEC) which didn't helped me. Right now i have no software to study except the becker textbook materials. I dont know what to do…i'm stuck in middle of thinking which subject should i prepare next and which material should i have to follow.

I think a great supplement to the Becker books would be Ninja materials

Just got my BEC score and I got an 84 on the first try. I noticed variances were a large part of the test (especially on TBS). The AQxAP/AQxSP/SqxSP, and knowing the difference in peice/quantity variances is important. It is just something you need to memorize and have down pat.

It was also easier for me because I took a few IT classes last year during my senior year. Also, the proper format for the written questions was big. I went over all 3 written questions for about 30 min during the test. Started them all off with a proper introduction (the same exact one for all three) and closing.

I only used Wiley MCQs but I did take notes on all 182 videos. Ended up doing close to 5000 (yes thousand) MCQs.

    Hi Nikki
It's sad that you are stuck in BEC.Can you describe where do you feel you are struggling ? In your score what it says about MCQ ? Comparable ? BEC twice 54 means you need a new approach.

Everyone has different ways of learning but for me writing things down helps a lot more then reviewing notes or flash cards. You might want to give this a try and see if it helps, best of luck to you.

BEC/FAR/REG are ‘math' problems for me. I can only go so far with books/notes, Becker or/& Ninja.

One thing I added in my BEC/FAR/REG review is making Mock Exams for each section. I have BEC/FAR/REG Mock Exams per week. It's a total of 16hrs per weekend.

These BEC/FAR/REG Mock Exams are 90% ‘number crunching' questions, plus SIMs. I put these Mock Exams myself, using AICPA released exams. I must have more than 10,000 MCQs and a few hundreds of SIMs. It's a lot of work, but I have to do it.

I am slow in number crunching. My 2017 Q1 & Q3 exams were too slow on MCQs (1hr each), by the time I got into SIMs, I panic, no time to review my answers, and always running out of time.

Everyone has a different style of studying. I like mine right now. It's a lot harder, since I have to design Mock Exams that I find it hard during my actual exams, plus at the same time I have to do my Ninja products.

I currently have FAR/REG/BEC Ninja Sniper materials. So far, I have been studying the Ninja FAR/REG/BEC notes and books. They are fine. But for me, the materials are not so new since I had Becker in past (2014 materials). But I know, I can't pass with my old Becker alone.

Though I didn't do much studying in my 2017 Q1 and Q3, my results and the contents of the newer exams made me decide to buy newer materials.

    Good luck.
