I take BEC in just over 4 weeks (12/7). I am trying to start studying, but I am having some focus issues on the materials. For AUD & FAR, I just hammered MCQs and that worked. I’m not sure yet if that method worked for REG, but it’s done at this point. My concern is that this method of studying won’t be enough for the information on BEC, but yet I’m not sure how well I’ll do just sitting and reading the material. I have Wiley and Ninja, with Ninja being the study materials I reach for most often.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

If hammering MCQ worked for FAR, it'll work for BEC. Because review programs have limited information on the depth BEC (most of the content hasn't been tested long, thus only a handful of questions have been released; additionally, the blueprint is only about a third of FAR/AUD/REG), they include mostly CMA questions. Testimonials, including mine, agree that most of these questions are significantly more challenging that what's actually on the exam. If you're tending 75% on Ninja, BEC will be a breeze.

I studied for a week using Wiley (supplemented with my friend's Becker for IT), skipped cost accounting a walked away with a 74. My score report showed that I was comparable to or stronger than passing candidates on every section but cost accounting. I'm using Ninja for my retake and these questions are ridiculously hard — way beyond the scope of anything I saw on the exam. I guess that's a good thing…

Thanks so much for the replies! That makes me feel better. I hate the beginning of the studying when the scores keep coming back super low, but I know that it's part of the process.

I studied for about 2 weeks last year with Wiley and got a 70. I don't remember what the breakdown was, but I know that not having time to memorize formulas was my downfall. I also know that working the problems is the best way for me to retain them. I decided to ditch Wiley this year after no previous success and I definitely feel like that's paid off.

I'm right there with you Jennifer. Taking it 12/6 and starting to study for it today. I'm using Becker exclusively. I passed it in 2016 by watching all the lectures and doing mcqs. At that time there were no skills practice in Becker and I didn't study for the writing portion. This time I'll add the blueprint sims to my study plan, the skills practice, and sims. I also work on the newly released questions.

I have a strong writing background, so I'm not too worried about that portion. I will probably spend a little more time than I typically do on SIMs just because I haven't seen them before for this section. I typically just rely on the AICPA practice ones and don't spend any other time on them. I'm just ready to be done and hope that if I put in the work like I did with the others it will pay off.
