Becker – New Simulation Format?

Started studying for the next exam tonight and Becker seems to have rolled out a new simulation format. You can’t use the entire screen which is super annoying to have to scroll every which way to see the information and kind of distracting. Is this part of the “new software” release for the actual exam? Becker has always looked exactly like the actual simulations so now I’m even more apprehensive than normal.

I would attach a screenshot if I could. Just wondering if anyone else has opinions on this?

That's how the new exam is going to be. We are going to use a 23 inch wide screen monitor and documents, authoritative literature, and excel pops in in a separate window. I also have Wiley and Gleim and their Sims are exactly the same, they all look the same. Big clock in the top and an orange color.

I was watching Becker Webinar about new software update and they said if you have smaller than 23 inch screen, you may encounter problems with sizing and stuff. They said on actual exam with bigger screen it should work way better than the old version.

The new Becker simulation user interface looks very similar to the new SIMs looks of the CPA exam in the AICPA practice test. At first, I was getting frustrated with the new update because I couldn't see anything without scrolling down. If you have a screen smaller, try to zoom it out, and it worked for me that way.

Yikes. Hopefully my testing center updates their monitors then… although I doubt it because I think their keyboards and mouses are older than me.

Thanks everyone! I'll try the zooming out tonight 🙂

    Becker Mock Exam Review

Anyone has tips on what to do about sizing the mock exam screen when reviewing the testlets? I'm having a hard time re-reading the MCQs and answer choices with the new format. The solution pop-up only moves sideways within the Mock exam.. this is super annoying! Any tips??

Zoom out. The AICPA exam sample is exaclty like the real thing. In terms of clunkiness in dragging the windows and minimizing/expanding them. Hard to grab the edge. For laptops, just zoom out. Remember tho you can't zoom out on the real thing, you'll just have to move windows to the side as best you can or arrange them cascade or side by side. It will still block the question and DRS a little, just have to deal with it. For DRS, don't even read the top part. You just just go straight to the first question cause it's always gonna be “A client/IRS asked you to do review/advise..blah blah..Answer the following sentences which should have been the corrected answer”. You already know they're gonna start with that so just go to first question and open the support documents right away for the first question.
