Hello,
Between a Bachelor’s in Finance and an MBA in general mgmt I will have no problem reaching the 150 required credit hours and the 36 general business hours. However, I will need to do some back tracking to reach the 33 accounting hours needed for licensure. Throughout my studies I have taken ACC 101 (4), ACC 102 (3), Cost Accounting (3), Valuation of Private Equity Firms (3, accounting elective), and Integrated Advanced Financial & Accounting Analysis (3, MBA course, accounting elective)–for a total of 16/33 accounting credits.
Please correct me on any of the following as I have not been able to find concrete answers on some of this.
In order to sit for the exam in New York one must have taken one course in Financial Accounting & Reporting, Taxation, Cost/Managerial, and Auditing and Attestation Services. Cost will obviously cover the Cost requirement and I am being told by NASBA that ACC 101/102 meet the Financial Accounting & Reporting requirement. Is this correct, leaving me in need of Taxation and (External?) Auditing before becoming eligible to sit? And Tax can be taken at a community college while Auditing must be upper level? Can the rest of the accounting electives be from a community college? What other courses would you suggest?
I like the idea of doing as much of this online as I can. Having said that, does New York State accept courses taken through UNA PAPP? If so that seems like a no brainer. Are there other online institutions that are definitely accepted by New York State? I am interested to know if anyone has been in a similar position and if so, which courses you took and from which institutions.
Basically, I want to be sure that the courses I pay for/take will be accepted by NYS before I enroll in them. Thank you!
