    Hi all,

Initially I thought 150 credit requirement is to be licensed or take CPA exam depending on states.
Last night though, I heard that PwC requires 150 credit hours from full time employee.

Instead of asking people that are around me who are students like me,
I decided to write on this forum.

so, is this 150 requirement for exam/license or full time employment?

    Thank you

    😀

Both. Big 4 wants candidates who are eligible for licensure.

A lot of big accounting firms want their employees to have 150 credits in hopes that they will become licensed in the future. In most firms, a license is necessary for a promotion.

I'd go by the job description. I think a lot of companies are relaxing requirements, not increasing them. Big-4 wants STEM candidates these days in our digital world, not just pure accounting anymore. My approach would be to check the job description and once past that hurdle, ask the recruiter when they contact.

Yes, it is a requirement. They require that you are CPA-eligible by your start date, which means that you have completed the necessary coursework (150 credits).

It depends on the jurisdiction and the local Big 4 office's implementation of the state's board's requirements for licensure..

Some states allow candidates to sit for their exams without 150 credits, but you need 150 for licensure. Some states don't require 150 credits, too.

Like others have stated above, Big 4 want you to have 150 credits by your start date even if that state only requires 120 to sit for the exam. I can speak for PWC and EY only, but I would assume the other two are the same.

As an example, I recruited for New York, where you only need 120 credits to sit for the exam, and 150 for the license. PWC/EY required 150 credits prior to starting full time. They will ask for an updated transcript, etc to make sure you are on track for 150.

    Becker for all

    FAR - 97 (Q3 2017)
    REG - 95 (Q3 2017)
    BEC - 98 (Q3 2017)
