    Guys,

I applied EY FSO as experienced hire, probably 2 months ago?? online, no referral.
To my surprise, a recruiter contacted me within 2 hours for a phone screening invitation. This took a week or so.
In another 3 weeks, I was invited to an onsite interview, with 1 partner and 3 sr managers…
The partner said he would give me positive feedback on site.

A week later, a recruiter contacted me and read me like a page-long good feedback. I was thrilled but then she said something strange…Sorry for the long story, here’s the part that I need help with.

She said over the phone that she would now need to find me a placement because she’s unsure of the needs, the timeline, and the area that needs people (they have both financial services and banking assurance opening)…She said the chances are big, but only if she could find a fit for me, can she have the HR start the offer process…

It’s been a week since our conversation, I didn’t hear back yet, and I start panicking honestly…

I mean, what is happening??? Is this normal??? If you don’t have an opening for sure, why would you post a job online and why would you take all the time interviewing me??? It’s not even a senior position, probably a 2nd year staff.

Thank you all for your time to read this!!! And I really need your help! :))

I cant really help you but have you tried contacting the recruiter after all that jazz you went thru?
I just applied with EY too and hoping.. ugh maybe they'll look down from the high Big4 throne lol
I have a connection in the office i applied to but i am not too sure what that connection can do for me.
How many years of experience do you have? No license yet?

    I don't know…it's driving me nuts….
I haven't contacted her yet as it's still within the week range, but I'll try next monday…
my personal experience is frustrated , yet could be very simple to others…
they say it all depends on the office, the urgency…but what do we know…it could help if you know someone in that office…
the thing i don't like is how they hire in LA and have all the recruiters work from the east coast.

Apply as many as you can. i applied like 8 roles at EY and got that one phone call. they have different recruiters working on different roles.
Also use linkedin to contact recruiters directly.

I have license already, 2 yr experience in taxes, and a lot of other things…
I'm overqualified for the job for sure, but we all go for the experience.

    Good luck!!!

I think you're panicking too early, they probably have hundreds of candidates like you, so it might take a while for her to come back with the offer.. as far as having a placement for you thats strange.. if you applied for a particular job what placement is in question? I applied to PwC few times thru the year and had an interview with regional recruiter, he promised me he'll get me in contact with the recruiter from the office i want to work at but never did.. i tired again but idk.. i feel like until the exam is passed its kinda useless.

exactly, it's the ambiguity makes me worry. why would you interview me if you're unsure about the hiring needs ???
personally I don't have audit experience, so i think the license helped me a lot. Pass the exams as soon as you can, it surely opens doors to everywhere…
even if you're at big 4, there'll be literally no time to study. But keep trying at the same time, you'll never know. I think it's somehow about luck and personality. I'm pretty sure thousands of us out there have identical CV and all can do the job…
