Hi guys this my fist post here

I have approved to sit for the CPA exam in CA, and I will sit for FAR and BEC in august 2010.

my problem is now I want to select the other two exams so I can sit for them in the next window.

So I have created the ($100 Fee for First-time Applicants) instead of the ($50 Fee for Repeat Applicants ) is this okay?? and is it going to affect my current application.

All I want to do is to pay for the other two exams that I didn’t pay for.

    I’m very concern

Please reply me as soon as possible.

It would normally take CBA at least 5 weeks to process your application. There is a small chance that you will get to test on your desired date, HOWEVER, you might just have to drive far for an available testing center. At 3 weeks out, I would email CBA and ask for an update of your application.

    CBA is notoriously slow.

@hasy (or anyone else), how long did it take for the CBA to actually review and approve your application for your CPA license?

Hi NeedsA75, it took 5 months for me. It took longer because I tried to beat the educational requirement deadline (1/1/2017) plus I missed one document so it was on hold for 10 days. I took ethics class just in case. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten my license. When you submit the application, please make sure you have all documents.

Holy shit, 5 months? My friend in VA submitted all his paperwork and had his license number within the week. Why is CA so long?

Also, what document did you forget to send in? I was hoping the whole thing wouldn't take longer than 8-10 weeks

I was one of those poor souls that applied for licensure in December only to be coldly rejected since I was 1/3 unit short in accounting. So I had to take an accounting courses AND an ethics course (which the grades should be posted on 30, if I'm lucky). Once it is posted, I am sincerely hoping to send it to them as soon as possible and ask them about the process. But everything is literally done besides my unit requirement. But I know, I'll be licensed in AUG if I'm remotely lucky.

Ok hasy, we are in the same boat. I had to take the foothill ethics class and am just waiting for my grade to post next week. I'm really hoping to be licensed at the end of August or early September.

So you had 29 out of the 30 units of required accounting? Did you take a 2 credit accounting class or something? I took 10, 3 credit accounting classes so I believe I should be good

If my excel accounting class had been just 2.5 instead of a 2 unit class, I would have been licensed by now. My alma mater was a quarter system and the acct dept refused to let me take reqd additional acct to sit for the exam. So when I left, I was still short to even sit for the exam. Then I went all out for the CC classes but it STILL wasn't enough. >.<

Alright, I'm freaking out a little bit in regard to the ethics class.

Will the foothill class be enough to satisfy the requirement of 3 units of ethics class? I've read countless times that it will satisfy the requirement but I'm not paranoid because its in quarter units and not semester units…My alma matter was all semester units….I'm going to have a meltdown if I have to take another ethics class to fulfill the requirement..

Has anyone applied for their license after taking the accounting ethics class at foothill?

EDIT: I think I'm freaking myself out….the CA tip sheet says the ethics class must be 3 semester units OR 4 quarter units. Foothill is based on a quarter system and this class is worth “5 units”, so it should meet the requirement, correct?

NeedsA75, I forgot to sign and submit Criminal Conviction Disclosure Form. Please do not forget this one.

I took my ethics class as the Foothill College. So it should be fine.

Thanks ultrarunner! I will make sure not to forget that form.

Also, was the foothill class your only “ethics specific” class to meet the 3 semester or 4 quarter unit requirement?

Yes, Foothill CC class covers “Accounting Ethics” class requirement, counts for 3 1/3 units. The remainder of the Ethics Study units (for a total of 10) can be covered by a variety of courses. (https://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/tip_sheet.pdf)

    As far as timeline:
Mailed completed application on April 24 and received approval letter dated June 19. I also know my review was delayed due to some of my transcripts being “archived”. Sent some transcripts in many years prior to taking the exams. I think they were in the box next to the Ark…..so it took a while.

    Best of luck!

Thanks, that is really helpful information.

Also, can anyone chime in about the 2×2 photo that you have to include with your application?

Do I need to pay to have a legit passport photo taken or can I have my wife take a head shot of me and then print it out myself? I'm just wondering if they are super strict on the photo requirements or if anyone has done this themselves?

@needsa75 I took mine myself on my phone and printed it out myself and cut it. It worked fine. Just make sure its a good photo with a plain white background and you should be fine.

It's so funny, I thought since the ethics final was today you came back to post about how we have to wait for the grades to come out.

I went to Costco for that photo. It was leftover from my passport application and it is $4.99 or a ridiculously cheap amount. You can ALSO go to Walgreens or something similar and get a coupon for like $10. You CAN take it yourself, but there are requirements for that kind of picture.

There is a place close to where I work that quoted me $15 for the passport photo so I thought it may be worth taking it myself. I'll look for a place that is cheaper.

I haven't taken the ethics final yet. I'm gonna take it tomorrow.

Also, do you know how long it will take for the grade to post to our transcripts? I already have my transcripts ordered, and I want to send in my application the same day that my transcripts are sent out.
